Fried Bread

This is a favorite accompaniment to eggs and bacon. After you have fried the bacon, keep the fat in the pan hot.

Fried Bread

INGREDIENTS:

1 egg
1/3 c. milk
4 slices white or wheat bread fat for cooking

METHOD:

1. In a shallow bowl mix together egg and milk.

2. Brush a little egg mixture on both sides of each piece of bread.

3. In a medium-sized frying pan, melt enough fat to cover the bottom of the pan. Fry the bread quickly on both sides until crisp.

Cooking time:5 to 10 minutes
Serves 4

*To make this a healthier recipe, use margarine or vegetable oil instead of bacon fat to fry the bread, and use skim milk.
