Cubed and Marinated Raw Tuna

Tuna dish is called Maguro Butsu. When preparing big fish like tuna or swordfish for sashimi, Japanese fishmongers cut them lengthways to make a long rectangular shape. After the prime parts are cut out, the trimmings are sold cheaply. Butsu is a chopped trimming, and it has all the quality of the best tuna sashimi.

Mussel Risotto

The addition of freshly cooked mussels, aromatic coriander and a little cream to a packet of instant risotto can turn a simple meal into a decadent treat. Serve with a side salad for a splendid supper. Other types of cooked shellfish, such as clams or prawns (shrimp), can be used instead of mussels.

Shrimp with Bottle Gourd Soup

I am not a veggie, but I love all the vegetables. I made gourd shrimp soup for dinner last night. It is a standard, no fuss kind of recipe with only few ingredients. This is another worth trying out recipe.

Again it is quite Chinese, using oil to bring the flavors out spices, and then stew a little bit. You won’t find MSG in the ingredients. My MSG is extracted from the fresh shrimp.
