eggs
This is a simple dish for a light supper or easy brunch. Baked eggs are a favorite light entrée at any time of the day.

A tortilla, or omelette, appears almost daily in a Spanish home. It can be eaten as a main dish at a light supper or as a side dish at the big midday meal, and slices of it can be served as tapas (appetizers). Good hot or cold, the tortilla is usually served hot and the leftovers are refrigerated for a snack.

Germans have traditionally eaten their biggest meal of the day— dinner—at about noon. Dinner is a hearty meal that usually starts with soup, especially if it’s a festive dinner. This is followed by some sort of meat—usually a roast. Pork is served most often. Beef, poultry such as goose, and game including venison are well liked too. The meat is served with potatoes, spaetzle, or dumplings; a salad; and one or two kinds of vegetable.

Spaetzle is especially popular in the Black Forest region of Germany. It is usually served in place of potatoes or noodles with a roast as part of a filling dinner.
Making fried rice is an excellent way to use odds and ends from the refrigerator. Fried rice is very economical, and it can be a complete and nourishing meal by itself.

These sandwiches are equally delicious without the cold cuts. Instead of meat, use additional vegetables, such as canned asparagus spears, pickled beet slices, and cut marinated artichoke hearts. Plan plenty of time when you arrange these sandwiches so that each one will be attractive.
