Homemade white bread

This bread is so simple to prepare. I can leave it to rise whilst I do other things and it’s delicious for breakfast the next morning.

750 gall-purpose flour
450 mlwater
17 gbutter
1 tspsalt
0.5 packetdried yeast
75 mlmilk

Step 1

Add the flour and water to stand mixer and beat for approx. 2 – 3 min. until ingredients are well incorporated.

Homemade white bread

Melt the butter in small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the yeast, salt and milk. Stir until yeast is dissolved, making sure that milk is only lukewarm. Remove from heat. Add mixture to stand mixer and knead until a smooth dough has formed.

17 g butter / 1 tsp salt / 0.5 packet dried yeast / 75 ml milk

Lightly flour work surface. Knead the dough again and form to a ball. Flour a large mixing bowl before adding the dough in. Cover with kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for approx. 1 hour. Once dough has risen, preheat the oven to 200°C/390°F.

Step 4

Homemade white bread

Knead dough again, pulling the edges underneath to form a smooth loaf shape. Grease the loaf pan with butter. Transfer dough to loaf pan. Remove kitchen towel and cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil. Transfer to preheated oven and bake at 200°C/390°F for approx. 20 – 25 min. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 min. until golden brown. Enjoy!
