The school lunch in my district was so bad I would spend the extra money to get a bag of flaming hot cheetos, a bottle of water, and an apple. Which totalled to about $6 USD. Which is ridiculous just to have something to eat because I can't have milk but a bottle of water was $1.75 and you couldn't leave the lunch room for the water fountains. I'm bitter 20 years later
Honestly, I am kind of surprised that you didn't mention hamburgers. Hamburgers are an amazing food just because of how many different ways they can be served, you can top up the veggies, you can switch the seasoning, you can add garlic aioli. You can use different cuts of meat and cook them in a dozen different ways; even the buns can be unique, depending on whether they were made by hand. Hamburgers, too (strangely enough, considering that they originated from Hamburg, Germany), are considered an American staple and part of the stereotype.
I love hamburgers! I am also well aware of the fact that there is a lot more out there that I haven't tried but would love to!
When I first moved to Korea, I thought it was the best food. Now while its still good, I miss American food so much. I want a 3 am taco bell run so bad, not G25 bulgogi and rice. I lost like 4 kg in the 3 months that I moved here 😭
School lunches are very different depending on the district and state. Iv been to 9 different grade schools (my family moved a lot) and school lunches have ranged from worst thing ever tasted to the best thing iv ever tasted. Ps Texas has the best schools lunches imo.
You gave us a content warning for the bathroom bit, but honestly I needed one for the way your mum prepared broccoli. I literally involuntarily heaved when you described her cooking method

Starting a video off with music from Va11-ha11-la. Very nice. Didn’t think anyone would know this
I thought I was the only one who had those kinds of poop sessions 😹
If I moved to a different country, and then returned to the US for a short time, I would be trying to get a Philly cheesesteak or Reuben
