Le Caprice … the London eatery formerly known as! The Arlington

Tonight I experience dinner at a restaurant that was once the Le Caprice, now called The Arlington in St James London. I sample some classic signature dishes such as Bang Bang Chicken of the former celebrity dining hotspot and soak in the atmosphere!

The Arlington is under The Woseley Grand Cafe co-founder Jeremy King’s group of restaurants including Simpsons in the Strand and many more!

  1. Interesting. And not as pricey overall as I’d expected – but you did have the 25% late discount. I’m noting how “discretionary” service charges, where they are imposed, have gradually increased in London and maybe the UK generally from the long-established 10% up to maybe 20 years ago, first to 12.5% and now 15% – how long before we reach the US 20% or more? Odd that they bother to have the tables set up outside, given it’s the middle of winter – would need to sit under heat lamps and be wrapped in blankets! The maître d’ (if that’s who it was) was clearly curious about you when filming your outro outside as he’s staring through the blinds! Looking forward to the Simpson’s review 👍.

  2. Looks like you enjoyed your meal, champagne & wine. Also nice to know that when it was Le Caprice, that Princess Diana enjoyed the Bang- Bang chicken as well. 🥂

  3. This seems to be more of a brasserie menu than the glorious Caprice was.
N.B. Very much looking forward to your Simpson's revue. I hope they are reintroducing the daily specials; I rang up roughly four years ago to ask which day of the week Steak & Kidney Pudding was on the menu and had to speak to four people before they knew what I was talking about, and informed the menu had been overhauled (much to its detriment, I fear). Meanwhile, next door at the Savoy Grill I hear Gordon Ramsey has scrapped Omelette Arnold Bennet, replacing it with a mousse. That's pure vandalism!

  4. Yes, The Soup Head people in the supermarkets is offering something Bang Bang. It maybe noodles. I have quite a few. During the Summer many of their offerings were showing up in discount supermarket Farmfoods for thirty nine pence to eventually become three for a pound. The Tom Gai soup is delicious. They are definitely doing something Bang Bang.

  5. Shame you were seated by the kitchen, very distracting but I guess knowing the popularity of the Arlington a single diner is not going to get the best location unless they book well in advance. The food looked delicious but of course it’s all in the taste. When you consider that the bill was no more than afternoon tea at the adjacent Ritz Hotel I’d say it was excellent value.

  6. I'm so envious of that wonderful Shepard's pie. I would have to have Worcestershire sauce though. The amazing pudding looked so decadent with the richness of the chocolate sauce. In all a unique feast, from the 2 starters that delightful pie and the chocolate pudding ,plus champagne. This was a very nice video thank you ThreeFiddy

  7. Another wonderfully evocative video, and what a classy and timeless restaurant. The name reminded me of the Caprice restaurant in Penarth South Wales which Prince Charles, now King Charles’ favourite eatery when visiting, owned by the great Eddie Rabaiotti. I enjoyed the coffee lounge there back in the day. Very civilised too.

  8. Looked like a lovely venue with a selection of classic dishes all wonderfully presented! And you got a cheeky 25% late night discount!!

  9. What a delicious dessert menu. Chocolate fondant and salted caramel ice cream please😊 another gorgeous vlog Fiddy. Thank you darling 🥂

  10. What a wonderful review Thankyou. Ate there a few times in the 90’s and was wondering if it was worth a visit for old times sake and am encouraged by your review. Only discovered your Chanel last autumn and am thoroughly enjoying you filming style, especially the food, feels as though I’m right there. Best wishes for a great 2026!

  11. Possibly one of the best meals I've seen you eat. Rarely do I want every course you show but he'll yeah! Your table was stunning great look to the video you done your channel proud. Thank you bon appetit

  12. What a beautiful presentation for each course served. The dining room decor with David Bailey photography looks very cozy for dining. You looked so satisfied with your meal.💕

  13. Classic Le Caprice menu selection; scallops, bang bang chicken & shepherds pie. I have no idea how you managed to squeeze in a Paris–Brest. Thank you for another amazing review.

  14. ‘I didn’t have any bread, so that’ll give me a fighting chance’
    Awesome dialogue 😂
    The shepherds pie looked decent.

  15. It’s important to be different from all the other food bloggers on You Tube, and I think you achieve that and in so doing your videos are very watchable and quite unique.

  16. Fantastic video Mr Fiddy as always. The Arlington is one of my favourite restaurants in London, my family and I go regularly to enjoy their famous Bang Bang Chicken like the one you had. Jeremy King has absolutely nailed it here. 5*.

  17. The way you shoot your vlogs, you can see you really are excellent at showing the food off in such great detail, this can't be easy while you are dining alone yet you make it look effortless. Thanks again, your channel will grow so much this year, and you deserve it 🎉

  18. A very enjoyable review! I am very much a restaurant lover, and it would be nice to be in contact. Please comment if you wish to share experiences (NB- This is not some kind of attempt at something untoward) from a like minded person. Best Wishes to you. Sophia

  19. Good choice as always, I've been meaning to go to the Arlington for a while, I'm in St James often as I like cigars and shopping in Fortnums. Back in the day Caprice and the Ivy were the two big celeb hangouts, I had been to the Ivy a few times back then but alas never Caprice.

  20. I had no idea this place was reborn. Backwhen i first made a few quid and back when everything was sane this was my go to. My old CEO was a character (Frenchman) made the chef do eggs benedict for starters. It required every time a kitchen visit and a debate, but we always got it

  21. Love this part of London.🥂For the Royal Jubilee 2012 we had the buffet dinner at the nearby Strand Hotel. I was amazed at the array of delicious eateries and could have sampled each. Thank you for treating us to the Arlington together with Le Caprice memories. ❤

  22. Really interesting video, this restaurant is on my list of places to visit, especially as I’ve just finished reading Jeremy King’s memoir – if you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it.

  23. I would have said to the waiter, "On second thought,s I will have some bread" to mop up all that delicious butter.

  24. I'm from Arlington…The good one in Virginia! Love your videos – immaculate dining, delicious looking food, lovely to watch even as I probably won't get to try the restaurants you visit. Cheers!
