I brown my sausage pieces until they release good juices that brown on the bottom of the pan, THEN add the liquid so that yummy browned sausage flavor is in the liquid.
I am going to the store tomorrow.
We have cooked a variation of "Scout Soup". We call it "Girl Scout Stew." Just 4 ingredients. You cook all of them ahead of time and combine them. 1. A pkg of Chicken Ramen. I follow pkg instructions and fix it in a larger sized pan. 2. 1 lb of lean ground beef. I cook it up, drain it and add it to the finished Ramen. 3. 1 small bag of mixed vegetables. I microwave them, drain the water and add to the Ramen pan. 4. 1 large potato. I microwave it, dice it up and add it to finished Ramen. That's it!!! I was the leader of my daughter's Girl Scout Troop many years ago. Girl Scout Stew was a hit at camp!!!
Diced carrots would add color and vitamins. I would add some chopped cabbage, too. Thanks!
I love soups and I'm sad that next week will be the last one.
I love polish sausage fresh and the smoked style. It is good with sauerkraut or the fresh I grill. Sauté onions, peppers and I like to add mushrooms. Put on a hoagie bun. There is nothing else you need for a meal. In Michigan it would be cold and we would sit around the fire pit grill. Cast iron pan for the onions, peppers, etc. The guys tried to see who could eat the most. Kids had hotdogs 😂❤hopefully your vacation was warm😂❤
If you cut your sausage in half long-ways it’s easier to cut into half moons.
Hi Tom
Just a little hint. It’s easier if you slice the sausage longways first the cut your 1/2 inch pieces.
We love polish sausage so I make a lot of recipes using it and have found it easier.
Looks amazing i love Kielbasa il make this
You gotta get some real polish sausage not that junk. Forget the noodles and add sauerkraut
Tom and Melissa, have you ever tried fresh (not smoked) kielbasa? It has a different taste, and we love it. We still like smoked kielbasa, but like to cook fresh also. I usually boil it for a while because it’s basically raw. We grill it after boiling it and serve it with mustard or ketchup.
I’m always making Ramen for the grandkids. I’ve found if I leave the noodles in the package unopened, and use the smooth side of a meat tenderizer and break up the noodles that way, they stay in the package (as long as you don’t hit the bag too hard!).
Definitely trying this.
Waves to "fellow" Illinoisan, Becky!!!! I'm around 3 1/2 hours south of you near Carbondale 😊 I'm a polish sausage soup lover too so I'll give your version a try!
Looks yummy! 😋❤️🤗
This looks so tasty. Heading to the store tomorrow to get the sausage. 😊
Ummm that soup looks comforting and delicious and super easy thank you so much for sharing OK bye bye Nana
Since no other seasonings are added, why not add the flavor packet?
Polish kielbasa is a favorite of mine any way it's cooked /served!! My soup includes cabbage, potatoes, carrots and onion. Less chopping to make Becky's version, I'll give it a try!
That looks absolutely delicious 😋 I’m going to try it!!
I would add diced carrots and diced celery.
Thank you Becky. I'm trying it this week. 😋👍
I LOVE polish sausage. Will try this soup, thx.
I’ve made Kielbasa a lot, but I didn’t know “skinless” was an option! I just cut it into “coins” and brown it. Who knew!?! 🤷♀️
Nice Soup ❤
Hi Guy’s! This looks great! Thank you for the recipe. Happy Sunday! God bless you both!❤
Hi Tom and Melissa. This is Becky. Thank you soo much for featuring my recipe!! So thrilled . I hope you like it. Since i sent that on my dear Mother has went to be with the Lord and have more time for cooking and watching Youtube. ❤
It looks too brothy for my preference. I'd possibly just use only one can of water instead of two – or thicken the broth. I'd possibly also add the ramen flavor packet. Maybe the only other thing different I'd do is possibly add a second package of ramen.
Oh my GOSH!! This is awesome!! I am sooo glad you sent in this recipe Becky! Thank you for sharing it!
I still make it too, after all these years. And all 3 of my adult kids have carried on this tradition and make it for their families, too! I found this recipe in my small town local newspaper (Bartonville, IL) when my oldest son was small & he is now 48 yrs old! Thank you Tom & Melissa for featuring this special recipe!
thank you for having a polish dish. just got done watching hidden in silence. we can make this.
I cannot wait to try this recipe!!!☺️🥀❤️🎋🪷
OMG! Made this tonight for supper! Talk about hearty! THANK YOU for sharing!
✍Hello Tom and Melissa…It's good to hear that someone else (Becky) watches You guy's at 9:00 pm for relaxation and I also watch for my evening entertainment instead of watching TV 📺 This soup🍵 not only looks delicious but I bet it taste delicious. Wish I could have been your taste tester tonight… Yum Good Night😴 God Bless LuvYa! Bye from freezing NE Ohio⛄
Looks yummy!
I love your soup series. I have never heard this soup but its looks delicious and I have some ingredients already. Maybe I will try to make it.
WOW! This sounds soooo good! Being that I'm polish, I'm surprised I never heard of it. Can't wait to try it! I'm in Palm Coast Florida, but it's currently 28°, so hot soup will be good one day this week. Hope it's warmer where you are!
Joyce
I usually break up the ramen when they're still in the package so you won't have the mess of breaking them apart otherwise. Can't wait to try this recipe!!
I think if I make this I will use chicken broth in place of water
Should cut the sausage in half lengthwise then cut your rounds (lot easier and less time consuming). More potatoes = more better (my opinion anyway). Lol. What about adding some beans to this recipe? I bet that work too.
you can crush the noodles while still in the package unopened. Then you can just take the flavour package out and dump. LOL
Thanks Becky. I think adding some cheese would be good
I'm a big fan of sausage, potatoes and green beans. I've even added cabbage with this. So this soup sounds pretty interesting to me.
Hey Tom and Melissa! I told Liz we definitely need to try this – she said she’s already added the ingredients to her shopping list. We’ll let y’all know how we like it. 🩷
My beloved hubby and I have been married 42 yrs. Together for 43 1/2 years. How long have you two been together? You both sound so comfortable together. I love. That. My hubby was given me by the grace of God. Believe me I KNOW it and t am so grateful for each day given. Now long have you both bee together??
Hi Tom and Melisssa 😊 I bought your cook book and I love it!
Thank you so much.
I made the carrot cake, and it was devoured by my family 😊
This looks delicious and I’m turning into a real soup person. So easy and a comfort food. Thank you.. Love and hugs to you two great people. ❤
Love this!Sorry I have missed y’all I had to get a new phone.
I thought about adding diced celery and maybe some diced carrots.
I use polish sausage in our fried cabbage. It makes a great flavor booster
