I Treated Myself at Japan’s Cheapest Family Restaurant | Saizeriya

I’m going to eat at Saizeriya, known as Japan’s favorite budget restaurant chain. You can enjoy various Japanese-Italian-style dishes at incredibly low prices.

  1. Did you starve yourself for several days before eating at Saizeriya ๐Ÿ™‚? This is really a lot of food & wine for USD 26.

  2. ""I'm going to a restaurant that brings a taste of Italy to Japan." "I'm ordering Hamburg Steak"

  3. I've only visited the restaurants they opened in Hong Kong, so I don't know if they're as authentic as the ones in Japan. They're not as good a value as the Japanese ones, at least.

  4. So help me if you donโ€™t dip that bread in the escargot juices I will straight up dieโ€ฆoh! It looks like you did ๐Ÿ˜…

  5. Ate at the one in akihabara one evening. Was surprised how cheap it was for a plate of pasta. It was good for the value.

  6. The food looked great STJ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š Thanks for a great video ๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. Saizeriya is my go to comfort food when I'm in Japan. The onion soup is really good and I'll usually have that with a pizza for a total of ยฅ900๐Ÿค—

  8. What insane prices, I wish we had one of these in the uk as it would be so popular. Itโ€™s hard eating out at the moment as money so tight for a lot of people. In the U.K. we have Wetherspoons which are the best value and are popular.

  9. Iโ€™m starting to suspect that youโ€™re infact not a man but a heavily pregnant woman expecting twins or even triplets because youโ€™re always eating for at least 2-3 people. Not that Iโ€™m judging mind you but maybe hold off on the wine..?๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜…

  10. Onion soup and escargot provide some French contributions to the Italian inspired restaurant chain.

  11. Saizeria has been undergoing some significant shrinkflation the past couple of years and a number of dishes have either shrunk or been removed from the menu. The target market is middle and high school studetns and adults earning a lower income. IMO, the food at Denny's or Coco's is much better. It's my understanding that they're actually operating at a loss in Japan, while being subsidized by their overseas operations. While not terrible, itโ€™s like eating frozen food from the supermarket. If that's your jam, you'll like it.

  12. That's enough food for a family of four. I honestly don't know where you put it all. But it looked tasty. Glad you enjoyed it.

  13. Australian beef, yummy. Iโ€™m definitely going to try here, certainly wonโ€™t touch American beef fed on growth hormones or its chlorine washed chicken.

  14. We discovered Saizeriya in a Tokyo suburb, maybe 10 years ago. Coming back from a brewery tour, we were hungry, saw a big picture of golden chicken wings, went in, and were amazed at the delicious food for such a low price.
Since then, every trip to Japan, it's one of the first restaurants we visit. Almost everything is good – except maybe the pizzas I find a bit wimpy, small, and lacking flavour.
"The first restaurant opened in 1967 in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture. As of early 2024, there are over 1,000 Saizeriya locations in Japan, making it a ubiquitous, low-cost Italian family restaurant chain. The chain operates over 1,500 total stores globally, with a significant presence in Asia."
