I fell in love with Filipino food in Manila!

I travelled to Manila for the collab of a lifetime – with the @TheMICHELINGuide !!!! I got to experience so many incredible dishes, and even though I ate a lot, I still feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface of Filipino food – I WILL BE BACK!!!

  1. omg i’ve been a long-time (silent) filipino viewer of you, amy! and it warms my heart watching you take a trip to the philippines and try out our food. im from manila too, and it really is the center of filipino cuisine if you want to get a starter pack to the filipino flavors because there are just so many variety of foods here! heck, i’ve been living here for my whole 26 years of life but i can’t even say i’ve truly gone around the whole entirety of metro manila and eaten every single food there is. not to mention that there’s even more variety of cuisine once you get outside metro manila.

i am so glad to see that you enjoyed the food, met great people, and had a good time! thanks for covering the cuisine of my country. i really truly always enjoy your videos 🧑

ps. even though im born, grew up, and currently live in metro manila, my parents originally came from visayas, specifically the negros islands, and it made me happy seeing you also have tried out kansi, which is my ultimate favorite filipino soup dish of all time 😁

  2. Blondie in China, you are eating only in Manila. Where the high class food is present, Michelin restaraunts? Maybe you should try the foods in the Provences, then you get the real taste of the Philippines

  3. I love Blondie the foodie because she has an international cosmopolitan tongue and she introduces the most typical foods of a particular cuisines. I was introduced to Filipino food because of my Filipino maid. Absolutely wonderful cuisine

  4. Ahh, I can't wait to go to Manila and taste all their delicious food! I love how you introduce and share your love of different cuisine with us, even when you are just learning about it <3

  5. It’s funny how Filipino just call spring rolls Shanghai. I wonder why πŸ˜‚ that name super confused for a Chinese person

  6. I've watched many of your China clips because I've always been interested in various local Chinese foods, didn't expect you to visit my country I thought I saw wrong when I saw 'Filipino' and 'Manila'!

  7. I can tell that Filipino cuisine is the most underrated food in the world. Most foreigners haven't discovered the real taste of the Philippine cuisine. Thanks to Blondie in China for giving us a glimpse of what Filipino food really is.

  8. you just know she LOVES food. She is not afraid of flavor and is curious why dishes are the way they are. Refreshing food content creator

  9. Very nice to see your experiences on food in Manila. A place of which I have quite a few very happy and good culinary memories of. You highlighted them in your own very unique way. The food from Mindanao comes closer imho to the food from Indonesia (Sulawesi) where my father came from. I recognise some resemblance there. Thanks Amy for this video which shows other food cultures then the always fantastic Chinese foods you are treating us with. 😊

  10. I had an all nighter and was about to sleep now (8am), but i saw this video and watched the whole thing.. now I'm h.u.n.g.r.y. Maybe a bad move for someone about to sleep.. πŸ˜‘ hahahaha I want everything you ate (except for the vinegar and shrimp paste, those 2 are my enemies πŸ˜…) just my preference. Filipino shrimp paste is too tangy for my taste but I can eat with sambal (indo or malay) I also miss Rodic's! I live in the province now and there's not a single Rodic's here. I used to go eat at Rodic's in UP Diliman. Anyway, I'm really hungry now but also sleepy. I hope I can still sleep. My tummy is not really hungry but my mind is saying the opposite because I watched your video πŸ˜…

  11. There's no more TAPA here in the Philippines. What everyone's calling "tapa" is not how real tapa is made. Now, it's just marinated… FAKE!

  12. Amy, you have really cool partnerships now. I’m so happy with your recent successes. This is a great Filipino cuisine feature because it has the regional dishes that some Filipinos don’t even know of, and you’re not just doing the usual sisig-adobo-lumpia-lechon combo. I hope when you come back to the Philippines, I’ll get to meet you!

  13. The only thing I m worried about to be in Philippines is safety. πŸ˜… That's why dare not go. 😊 Most of the food is being alterations of Chinese fuzhou, 福建, Cantonese traditional food. Alteration from Spain and western meals. My opinion only from your adventures video.😊.😊

  14. Have you heard of the content creator (J.L.A) they 3 are siblings who are Australian but all of their contents are Chinese related stuff and I think they are pretty big in China, they speak Chinese too. The J. L. A, stands for Jasmine, Lachlan, Avaline. They have rednote account too 😊.

  15. Of course Luzon people will tell you Mindanao is dangerous. But the fact is, most of them NEVER set foot in Mindanao. Funny eh? Those who visited Mindanao changed their minds.

  16. Spaniards avoid Mindanao like a plague because of the PINTADOS, after they discovered Pinas in 1521.
