Have you ever tried making Tex-Mex at home, and what do you think Jamie got right or wrong here?
This video is 100% accurate… This is what Brits (who have never been to Texas or had real Mexican food) think Tex-Mex is. I love my friends for across the pond, but cmon…. the spice rack is your friend, don't be afraid to use it. My whole cabinet above my sink is nothing but spices and spice blends. USE THEM! Your taste buds will thank you
its an oliver-mex
Jamie should stay in his lane 😂 plain Greek yogurt? No cumin? So many wasted opportunities
To me from watching the video around the edges of the pan that he baked in looked burnt
0:06 You mean "Let's watch Jamie Oliver eff up some TexMex"
I live in L.A., I love Tex Mex but this ain't Tex Mex. At least Mr. Olive oil did not drizzle olive oil on the Tacos. LOL On a side note, a Londoner once told be in a plane that she can't find lime in London. This was a while back, not sure if it's still true.
In Jamie's defence, he wasn't claiming any kind of authenticity. It was just a vegetable sandwich somewhat reminiscent of Tex-Mex without committing to it. I made a curry the other week, and my wife said it tasted the way that sumo wrestlers smell. I had to agree, but I wasn't claiming it was an authentic British curry.
By the way, it always makes me chuckle to hear you say "bloody".
Call this a "cleaning out the fridge" wrap and no one will be offended. Calling it tex-mex, a very specific regional cuisine, is inexcusable.
Jamie's tex mex is comparable to taco bell.. except even less authentic
Happy Sunday Chef James 😺
Oh no 😮 Not Jamie ruining another dish.
I haven't watched yet, and I'm already afraid.
This hurts my soul.
To be fair, it probably tastes fairly good, it is just not in the least Tex mex. Unless you think of the onion, corn lime juice and tomatoes as kind of a salsa. but very bland without cilantro or peppers. I'm trying to imagine what he is thinking, just not able to LOL.
By the way, is it just me or is something wrong with his pan? Look at how uneven the char on the corn is.
This is an insult to texmex. I love texmex tacos. That would be too bland. Throw in some jalapeno! Why is there no Monterey Jack?
You’d get more flavor with a basic Taco Bell taco…
My soul dies a little every time Jamie Oliver uploads a vid..
British chefs like Jamie never use spices, which is comedic considering Brittians history with the spice trade.
🤦 i feel the need to clarify something…
Paprika: NOT A PEPPER! Paprika is a spice that is MADE from a pepper, specifically, it is from a dried, groundpowdered red pepper. There's more than one type of pepper you can use. Tomato peppers, red bell peppers, or chili peppers, for example.
I don't put cumin on my chicken, I put it in the guacamole. The chicken has salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and cayenne pepper.
WTAF? If you tried to serve that to just about anyone in the US and tell them its even Mexican adjacent you will be told off.
Oh and this is the second time this week I have heard a British person talking about Smoked Paprika like its Cayenne or something… They are keeping the Brits like bland food stereotype alive I guess.
I love you stuff but… Can you do something other than the Jamie Oliver and uncle roger?..
The best way to cook corn is to take the whole ear (husks on) and soak them in a bucket of water for a bit, then toss the ear onto a grill until the husks are good and burnt, peel it and you have perfectly cooked corn on the cob.
Let's not mince words, here! At the end of the day, that guy is a bad chef, period! So who is he ***** to be on TV? I wouldn't try his food if I was starving and watching your show, I'm not the only one. Thank you for your work and time!
The chicken actually looks good, but it looks maybe more Mediterranean over Tex-Mex, well, if you skip the wheat tortillas. I agree that it's missing either Cumin or Peppers! Tesco even has a spice packet of taco seasoning that would have worked better than what he used. I wonder if I need to hide from Chef James for mentioning the packet…
jamie olive oil cops a lot of flak, and im not going to say it is entirely undeserved. but i dont see much problem with this recipe. his goal is healthy and easy and hes done exactly that. would it be better with corn tortillas? probably. would it be better roasting all the veg? most likely. but sometimes i just want something quick, easy, simple. and this ticks those boxes. i totally agree on the spices though, adding some more doesnt increase the complexity of the recipe.
Appreciate you James
most wholemeal bread, is just white flour, with the parts they removed, added back in, they have to add the nutrients back in, to make up for them no longer being in it, the only thing you get from it, is more fibre
I haven't seen chef James swear lmaoo
I'm surprised he didn't put tofu in there
Well.. at least there wasn't any mango chutney. Thanks for the video
Well, at least he didn’t whip out the chili jam
i mean …. jammie is jammie …. what are we expected ??
JO always tries to reinvent the wheel, and he always fails.
