How Sailors Cook On Boats
Cooking on a sailboat might look chaotic, but there’s a clever piece of engineering that makes it possible. Most sailboats use a gimbaled stove or oven, which is mounted on pivot points so it can swing freely and stay level while the boat rocks. This prevents hot pans from sliding, food from spilling, and dangerous burns in rough seas. It’s a simple but brilliant marine design that allows sailors to safely cook full meals offshore, even in heavy waves.

Awesome, time for me to cook a Soufflé on the high seas.
If the stove only rotates on one axis, wouldn’t it spill food if the boat tips along the other axis?
