The air is misty and freezing, and today Sareh prepares soft traditional potato bread using a simple mixture of flour, fresh milk, and mashed potatoes. The dough is shaped by hand and baked slowly inside a rustic clay oven, creating fluffy, hearty village bread perfect for cold days 🔥🍞
Alongside the bread, we cook a nourishing lentil soup with beef bone marrow (bone broth). Green lentils are simmered slowly with beef bones, creating a rich and comforting winter soup full of flavor and nutrients.
Fresh cow’s milk is boiled and turned into homemade traditional cheese using old village methods.
Meanwhile, Negin uses a traditional goatskin churn (mashk) to turn fresh yogurt into buttermilk and local butter. The mashk, made from natural goatskin, is shaken patiently until golden butter separates from the yogurt — a beautiful traditional dairy process passed down through generations 🐄🧈
Finally, the fresh village cheese is mixed with butter and warm milk to create a smooth and creamy homemade cream cheese.
