Our NEW Dining Room Remodel Update | The Process Continues

Today’s video is a real-life home remodel update!
We’re officially getting started on turning this room into our new dining room. This is the true BEFORE and the process, and I’m taking you along as we start making space for the renovation.

If you’ve been following our 1960s home remodel journey, you know we’re doing this step-by-step and as budget-friendly as possible. There’s a lot to do, and this is just the beginning — cleaning, prepping, and getting ready for the real work to start.

I’m so excited to finally bring you along for this next phase of our home. It may look empty now, but not for long. Big changes are coming to this space, and I can’t wait to share every step with you.

Let me know in the comments:
What would YOU put in this dining room?

Thank you for being part of our cozy little community and for following along with our thrifty home journey.

Love y’all,
Julie

  1. It is looking amazingly good!! I am just thrilled for you and your family! I a p wish i could get some stufff done to my place! I am older and divorced so not a lot of income! Would totally be all God if it ever happens!

  2. It is looking amazing. It looks so much larger than before!❤
I hope you get a separate light switch with a dimmer for the chandelier over your table… mood lighting makes the meal taste better 😂
Also it would be handy to have a shelf at the kitchen sink window so you can pass food through and dirty dishes back afterwards.

  3. So happy for you and everything looks awesome. I know you will have it styled and looking beautiful.
Just a thought can you put a wall to separate your laundry area/freezer with a hight pony wall with a walk through or sliding barn doors to close off. I know we all have to stick with a budget but even if no separation you will have it looking beautiful and know you will enjoy all the fun times with your family.
Enjoy and nice to see you excited and happy.👍😃

  4. Julie, I am always amazed at what remodels are capable of changing, and for the better/prettier etc…! Your current kitchen windows would make a great pass through for clean up after family dinners! So happy your contractor did some magic on the pipes, can't believe he can fix the hole in the wall, very interested what he pulls out of his sleeve. This room is going to be wonderful for you! So excited for y'all!

  5. It is looking so nice! I love the way you did the 2 windows next to each other. Are you going to put up a wall across tween the washer/dryer and freezers? Or will they be open to the dining room? Thanks for sharing!

  6. Hi Julie, I watch all your videos but rarely comment. I just wanted to tell you that I’m so happy and excited for you with this renovation. You and your husband are so responsible and thoughtful in your decisions about finances. It’s refreshing to see😊 I love seeing your excitement when you’re doing something to your house, but I also love how you just love decorating it even if things aren’t exactly how you want. You appreciate what you have and it shows. You’re an authentic person and adorable. I enjoy all your videos and sweet personality! Can’t wait to see your new space finished and decorated!😊🇨🇦

  7. It's looking so amazing. I can't wait to see MORE. We need to see all you and your husbands ideas to come to light. I agree on outside plugs. Our old home doesn't have any. It sure would be nice. Time to decorate soon❤

  8. Suggestion for the brick wall at the kitchen sink. Add a bar so you can pass food thru the window. A beautiful wood slab.

  9. Loving the back porch renovation. Looking forward to seeing its day by day progression. I'm excited for you, Julie.

  10. Loving it!!! Please pray for us…we are expecting a good amount of snow, again, this time it suppose to be heavy! Be safe and GOD bless 🙏🙏🙏🙏 ❤❤❤ from Pennsylvania ❤❤❤ 😊😊😊😊😊

  11. Julie y don’t you put a wooden servery when you take out your old kitchen window I think it would be great when you are entertaining in the back room

  12. Had a home with the window as pass through. It had a shelf at the patio side at the window so u don't have to carry foods to the doorway. Put on the shelf and get from the dining side. Or a piece of furniture the same height as the window. Hope I'm getting the idea across.😊

  13. Very nice Julie. Very nice. Hubby’s sister and niece are coming to live with us so he is renovating our garage (it’s a biggen) and turning it into a two bedroom granny flat for them. I wish Hubby had decided to get builders in too because even though he is a carpenter by trade he is not a spring chicken anymore. He has done damage to his shoulder and elbow so I may start nagging. Plus the whole thing is overwhelming for him and we are all starting to suffer from cabin fever.

  14. Hi Julie!! It is looking sooo good!! I love the outside!! So so pretty!! Going to be a beautiful gathering & functioning space ❤😊

  15. Julie real quick maybe you should do double plug four plugs on the bigger side and then they keep the other ones when you have a big family you know people I mean you can also add one of those outlet plugs that have. I don’t know why they called you know what they have on several plugs on it that you plug into the one you could do that too, but I found out that we use a lot of power too so we do four plugs now on outdoor event for an outdoor event. Everybody wants to charge their phone or something like that. Made a really nice shelf to on above the plug so they can lay their phone on.
