Before I put my roast into the slow cooker and it's thawed. When I do it I take a meat tenderizer to my roast and beat both while I'm adding my spices to my roast, I beat them into the roast. I also add a can of Coke to my roast and then I add half a can of water to the roast and let it cook on low all day long. But you could use Dr. Pepper Pepsi whatever soda you're drinking as long as a dark colored soda
