This Might Be the ULTIMATE Sunday Roast!

Grey skies. Miserable weather. Classic England.

Which means there’s only one solution: a proper British Sunday roast.

Today we’re in Hornchurch, Essex, visiting Onyx Restaurant and Bar — a place that, from the outside, doesn’t exactly scream “traditional roast dinner”. No roaring fires. No country pub vibes. A little bit bougie, a little bit modern… and that made us nervous.

But the Sunday roast game in the UK is wild.

You can spend £60–£70 a head at fancy countryside pubs with rare-breed meats and slate boards… or you can grab a bargain roast for a fiver elsewhere. So where does this one land?

If you’ve got a favourite roast spot we need to try, drop it in the comments. We’re very open to a full-on roast dinner tour.

Thanks for watching — and yes, the Sunday roast is still the heavyweight champion of food. Fight us in the comments 👊🍽️

  1. Do you make all your money off just YouTube Matt or are there other revenues of income 👍 just for informative purposes just generally interested how it all works

  2. Manor farm shop in Catthorpe on the M6/M1 junction. Beef, lamb and pork + veg grown on farm. Great place.

  3. One of my sisters likes tomato ketchup on her roast🤢 & tell the chef the wars over with lack of gravy😢 My roast needs to be swimming in gravvvvvvy

  4. Great fodder, excellent value.
Enough to feed a family of four, with unlimited Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy.😋😋😋

  5. Decor is a bit girly for me so id probably avoid, would probably go to the local instead and watch the football. Food did not convince me otherwise.

  6. Myself and my wife have a roast every Sunday over the gloomy period not so many in the summer but we do have them as the salads and BBQ get a bit monotonous

  7. That looked absolutely delicious, will definitely be giving that a go as it’s not far from me.

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s never going to beat my own Sunday dinner but by god it will be nice to have a break one Sunday and anywhere serves Yorkshire tea as well has to be right up there.

  9. lol to be saying roast dinner are the best in the world. You haven’t been to Jamaica then.

  10. If you’d have had a pot of apple sauce for the pork , a big jug of gravy and a pint of or 3 of Guinness it would have been a straight 10 🙏🏻 Can’t beat a roast when done right 🙌🏻

  11. sunday roast is the daddy! if you do it right you have food for three days. I once lived in a house that had an Aga, and a bird slow cooked in that was the very best Ive ever had.

  12. Me and my Mrs have had over 30 different roasts in Kent in the last couple of years, and the best so far has been The Windmill at Hollingbourne.
Check it out if you're ever nearby.

  13. The quiet what sounded like "jesus christ" from the camera man running across the road at the start is me every time I have to increase speed across a wet road 🤣 They look like some great Yorkshire Puddings (all of it does). Not sure about the mint sauce with it all, I like mint sauce just feels a bit out of place with everything else here

  14. Check out La Bella Calabria, Houghton Regis… Banging roast dinners, portion sizes and value for money are on point. (Book an early time though as they get very busy and they do run out of the roast meats). 😉
