COOKING WITH WHAT I HAVE LEFTOVER

Here is how I did it! Creamy Caramelized Cabbage & Onion Pasta Ingredients • 4 tablespoons salted butter • 2 tablespoons olive oil • 1 white onion, thinly sliced • 1/2 of a cabbage, thinly sliced • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 tablespoon sugar • 4 cloves garlic, grated • 1 cup heavy cream • 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water • 1/2 pound pasta • Freshly cracked black pepper Instructions In a large skillet over low heat, melt the butter and olive oil together. Add the sliced onion and cabbage along with the salt and sugar. Cook low and slow for about 40 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until very soft and deeply tender. Increase the heat to medium and continue cooking for about 5 more minutes, until the cabbage and onions begin to turn golden and caramelized. While they finish cooking, boil the pasta according to package instructions, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining. Once the cabbage mixture is golden, add the grated garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Reduce the heat to low and slowly stir in the heavy cream. Let it gently simmer and thicken. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until it reaches a silky consistency. Add the drained pasta directly to the skillet and toss until fully coated. Remove from heat, top with freshly cracked black pepper, and enjoy.

  1. This is when you order a Whole Foods delivery on Amazon (my personal favorite thing to do 😊)

  2. Carl did a great job on moving all that snow. Just to have a path with 3 feet is a lot of work.

  3. We could easily eat for a couple weeks from our pantry, which includes purchased canned meat. I also have a standup freezer plus my frig freezer. I could never run out of cheese. I can make bread, I have shelf stable milk and dried milk, also frozen eggs. There is just the two of us, retired. Since you knew a storm was coming, I am surprised you didn't go before the storm. You have a family.

  4. I have been watching you since there were no babies.I love how simple and easy your recipes are.I'm also italian goomba. ❤

  5. Well no offense but it wasn't like you didn't have days of preparation time. Why didn't you go to the grocery store when they told you that you had a blizzard coming? I don't understand people that wait until the last minute and then they can't get anything

  6. In the Slovak heritage, we call that halusky! We either use egg noodles, or we make dumplings very similar to spaetzel. I only make it with the dumplings….so good. Bacon is yummy with it too

  7. Haluski. Found out about this when I moved from NYC to Nepa..
Its pretty good. Polish dishes out here.. Mrs T's peiorgis are better than any homemade out here. They make it soupy with butter an onions and the dough is so doughy and mushy when cooked 🤢

  8. Don't use table iondine salt use Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt instead. You already get enough iodine from foods too much can cause health problems.

  9. Good creativity.
Since you live in The Northeast, get a deep freezer. 🧊🧊🧊🧊
Buy extra of each frozen item you buy. Over time, you’ll be fully stocked up for emergencies like this.
