I Left Fine Dining To Sell $2 Meals At My Former School Canteen

At just 25 years old, Wan Hasnirauuf Hassan returned to his alma mater, Boon Lay Secondary School, to open a Western food stall.

Trained by 3-star Michelin chefs, he brings fine-dining standards into the humble school canteen, serving restaurant-quality meals that students can afford.

But with rising operation costs and manpower shortages, can canteen vendors like Wan really survive in this dying industry?

  7. My advice to you bro get a hawker stall. You are young if your food is good, and slowly you will get your own shop.

  9. You are my new hero brader….I pray Allah will murahkan rezki and save your business from the central kitchen invasion!!!! Giving food for someone to eat is the best pahala becos evrytime they kenyang it’s a reward dunia and akhirat..

  10. what i dont understand is, with all the brains in the ministry and school management, why are vendors being forced to sell food at a price way below proper margins when the cost of the raw ingredients is so much higher ….. to rub it into the vendors faces, the students get their money from their parents whom themselves eat food outside during lunch hour at normal market rates…… so what makes everyone think the vendors can get special magical prices from their suppliers to be able to sell their food at ridiculously low prices?

wheres the brains and logic in that?

  11. Kinda want to go back to my old school canteen just to try eating the food that I haven't taste for the last 30-40 years.
