LARGEST 8KG AYAM GEPUK CHALLENGE in KL Malaysia! | My Spiciest Food Challenge Yet?!

In this video, I took on an 8KG Ayam Gepuk challenge at Ayam Gepuk Kriuk, one of their three outlets in KL.

This spot is known for their ayam gepuk served with crispy “kriuk” sprinkled on top which are crunchy bits that add extra texture to every bite. The chicken is deep-fried till golden and smashed before being drenched in their sambal, while staying juicy and tender inside.

The highlight here is their sambal. Unlike regular chilli sauces, this style of ayam gepuk sambal is mixed with ingredients like cashew butter, giving it a slightly nutty richness that balances out the heat. The sambal is seriously spicy, definitely one of my spiciest challenges yet. It’s extremely addictive, especially when mixed into the rice together with the crispy kriuk.

They’re also well known for their kang kong goreng. Instead of the usual stir-fried version, the kang kong is deep-fried till crispy, giving it a light crunch on the outside which adds an extra crispy, savoury element that pairs well with the spicy sambal and rice.

With a total of 8KG of crispy chicken and rice in front of me, this was definitely not an easy challenge, but it was one of the most enjoyable challenges I had so far. If you love spicy food and fried chicken, this is one spot you have to try when you’re in KL.

Enjoy the video and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more food challenges and content!

  1. Wow but I had never eaten ayam gepuk before. The spiciness that zermatt emphasizes scares me bcs I can't tolerate much spiciness & my stomach is too sensitive. Yet the fried chicken etc look fantastic!

When you eat malay & indian food the only way is to eat with your hand. If you use fork & spoon the experience would be meaningless and in my nind it looks ridiculous too Lolz so bravo zermatt for your flexibility.

If something has to be eaten with the hand I don't care if it's a classy joint or if I am in europe or china I would still use my hand. Imagine eating fried chicken with chopsticks!!!

  2. Great video Zermatt, everything that you said about the chicken was exactly what I was thinking! I wish this restaurant was in Toronto but because of you I know where to go. Thanks and enjoy your trip. I look forward to seeing your next video.

  4. Ayam gepuk original from indonesia
Ayam Gepuk, specifically the popular Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus brand, was founded by Rido Nurul Adityawan in 2013 in West Jakarta. Its signature dish is battered fried chicken paired with a signature peanut-based chili sauce. It has grown rapidly through a franchise system, with hundreds of outlets. History and Development: Founder and Beginnings: Rido (nicknamed Pak Gembus) started the business with limited capital, selling ayam gepuk from a street stall in the Pesanggrahan area of West Jakarta. Sambal Uniqueness: Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus's main distinguishing feature is its unique onion chili sauce recipe, which combines peanuts, chilies, onions, and other special spices. "Gepuk" Technique: The term "gepuk" refers to the technique of pounding fried chicken until tender to allow the chili sauce to penetrate better, unlike "geprek," which involves crushing. Franchise Expansion: The business began to grow rapidly in 2015 through a franchise system. Currently, its outlets are spread not only throughout Indonesia but also in Malaysia and Singapore

  8. Bro Just come to Indonesia, to try the OG of that. I mean you can just come to Jakarta, Bandung, Jogja, Surabaya, Pontianak, Medan, Padang, Makassar, Gorontalo, Manado, Ambon, or whatever it is to find great local food. I don't say that Ayam Gepuk in KL is inferior or anything, I do enjoy some Malaysian adoption of Indonesian food, but I've been waiting Zermatt to come to Indonesia (beside Bali) to enjoy Indonesian culinary.

  9. Masyallah Malay.. we share cultural food eyy 🤩😁 keep it up,, share our cuisine to the world!!
