The off-putting soapy taste is definitely from the coleslaw. When homemade coleslaw is left in the fridge for like a week or 2 the cabbage starts to taint it giving an off-putting taste.
Homemade coleslaw lasts about 2 weeks but only really tastes good for about 5 days.
