We Gave Our Kids TOTAL Control of the Food Shopping

A 7-year-old just did our grocery shop… and Jamie & Mike have to turn it into a delicious meal.
Baz’s son Austin had TOTAL control in the supermarket – picking ingredients that absolutely shouldn’t go together (sweet, savoury, snacks, “why is that in the trolley?”). Then we revealed them to Jamie and Mike back in the Sorted kitchen with three rules:

✅Use EVERY ingredient Austin buys
✅Make a dish we’d actually want to eat
✅Survive the midway curveball bag that could ruin everything!

You’ll see Austin choosing items in-store, then we cut back to the kitchen as the lads scramble to form a plan, adapt on the fly, and somehow plate up something worthy of praise from not just Chef Ben but Austin himself.

Which ingredient would have broken your brain the most – and did the curveball bag make it better or worse?

  1. Fish and sausage does go together. Use to do it for wantans, and yes i have eaten dimsum with that combination.

Only thing using expansive cod fish 😅

  2. So i never comment on these videos, but when Mike asked Ben what he would do, that actually sounded like something id want to watch. Maybe a video where, you go from a Chaos, on the spot, figure it out ingredient list, and then follow it up with Ben using the Same ingredients, but actively planning it, to show the stark contrast on what the dishes could look like, because im SUPER interested to see what Ben had in mind for those Naughty items

  3. This would be fun to play with my own kids. Wonder what a 6 year old and a 3 year old would grab. They're pretty healthy eaters. Would I need to let the baby grab some random stuff off shelves?

  4. Austin is adorable; is it valid to say he is just like his dad? A prince of pretentious, in his own right!

  5. I want to see the same thing with the chefs and the same ingredients. By the way, where is Kush? Haven't seen him in quite awhile?

  6. naaa, healty come on guys, let the kids go with all they want… just limit the quantity of candy but total freedom with other things

  7. I'm confused (and a bit disappointed). Did you all not do a show with Dame Emma Thompson talking about eating disorders. Yet, on this very child-forward episode, you're still labeling food as "naughty"?

  8. 1:57 "Or, you then put the scotch egg in a bap, like a wiggin slappy"
I have no idea what any of this means, but it sounds interesting

  9. Why is this thumbnail AI slop though? I’ll start watching your videos again when you stop using AI in them.

  10. Please can you guys finally gey rid of the stigma of elbows on the table please. It pisses me off that my nan (in her 90's) still insists that having you elbows on the table is bad manners. The reason we don't put our elbows on the table was due to the balance of medieval tables; the balance point was at the centre and if someone was resting on a certain part of the table as the food was moved, the table might flip or lose stability; causing at least 1/5th of your feast to end up "to the dogs". We've had 4 legged tables for at least 400 years. Should our elders "grow up"?

  11. If I had any desire to see your children, I would go watch the channel you made for them.

  12. I could absolutely listen to Austin shop for an hour. XD Little dude is just fun to listen to run his stream of consciousness.

  13. Hello Roki! I am glad to see another upload from you. I tried the tamago kake gohan this morning for breakfast. I ate it with some miso soup and some fermented cabbage. It was delicious and filling! I am now having some red beans, rice, and sausage for dinner.

I love any sushi if it has eel or tuna!

  14. My four year old grandson likes only spaghetti and nuggets. Feel lucky Austin is not my grandson haha

  15. Great video can't wait to see Barry in the kitchen doing this, its gonna be like one of the kids in the kitchen cooking with Barry in there LOL

  16. Pannè station. Scotch egg. Fries. Seen it all so much on the channel 😂
    F for creativity tbh

  17. Can’t wait for Evie and Finn’s turn. Videos with food are tough to watch during cancer treatment, but I will tune in for that.

  18. Jamie mixes cod and sausage, boils an egg, balances crisps and buns, creates a scotch egg. Attempts a smore with iced buns.

Mike slices a pepper, makes some chips and cuts a few cherries.

There is clearly a weak link!

  19. This was a fantastic format! I hope we get more like it as a “staple (format) ingredient”! Love the SORTED (-kids?) animation and thought it was deserving of a main title card!

  20. This was a brilliant video. I will be interested to see the other two videos and what happens.

  21. Honestly, it would be hilarious to have each of the lads' kids pick out ingredients and then have them figure out whose kid the shopping bag belongs to.

  22. Regarding referring to food as being 'naughty' or referring to food in other ways that could be considered to have negative connotations; one of the many courses my wife took over the years addressed this concern by referring to things simply as "foods to limit" and "foods not to limit".

  23. Jamie reaction and second guessing himself about the hot pan after thinking Ebbers' compliment was a diss and then Ebbers' reaction to Jamie's backpedal is gold!

  24. Stupid suggestion but.. for the Kids Channel… just a text or something in the description to know who's who's kid?
(i'm only at the 5th episode so maybe its been done already there's nearly 40 videos on that channel already)

  25. My kids are now in their 30's – but as a Mum who ran a business and was very busy the kids had to do/wanted to help with the cooking. We planned the menu together, wrote the recipe together, did the shopping together and cooked together. I am not a teacher I am a motorcycle mechanic – but my kids learned maths, spelling, planning, science and when they stuffed up they tried again. So want Sorted Food to make more videos like this one.

  26. My son at the age of six was cooking chicken and it was delicious at 7 years old he made a complete Sabbath meal with chicken he called a drunken chicken by the way and yeah the chicken definitely was drunk and well the way he made it it was for the grown ups and it was full of booze specifically it was drowned in white wine add lemon juice anyway he made a full meal and he was 7 years old he's also on the autism spectrum what these days is referred to as neurodivergent, so cooking for him was something fun and that he liked to do, he was spectacularly good at it and still is even though he's now all grown up.
