Great tips! I have the containers but don’t use them often.
I’m at the same place in discovering meal prepping and at about the same age. I bought the Souper Cubes knockoffs though. But, I will also be doing component/ingredient prepping, to have variety, as needed.
I can’t understand why people say they’ve been freezing leftovers or big batch meals in large quantities so they have to thaw the whole lot when they really only want one portion. I’ve been freezing food in smaller user friendly containers or bags for decades-long before these cubes came into existence. Just makes sense. And don’t cook especially to freeze, just cook larger batches of dinner or whatever and freeze the rest in usable portions.
Funny that I had been looking at these cubes today. I am a single senior, in Ireland and I cook each meal times 4. 1 for dinner, 3 for the freezer. I have done so for the last 20 years. I like the idea of prepping individual ingredients too.
I shall try this. Thank you! ☘️💚☘️
Great video. How is the texture of the beans when you thaw them?
Hi Margaret! Great video as always. I actually made a small sample edit for your channel and sent it to your email a few days ago.
Whenever you get time, please check it once. I’d love to hear your thoughts. 😊
Great channel, very informative. Thank you
Thanks for your take on super cubes uses. Would love your baked oatmeal recipe please (high protein cheesecake looks good also as a treat).
Back in my vegan days, i used soft silken tofu to make “cheesecake”. Wasn’t quite the same and I’m eager to try this high protein version.
Do you have another freezer? I only have the drawer freezer with the fridge. I do use my cubes!
Hi I'm Margaret and almost 70. 🙂
I love souper cubes but must share my experience with baking in them. I baked macaroni in them and noticed an after taste of silicon when I ate it. More recently, I baked yellow cake in the two cup cubes and it also tasted like silicon. I have determined that this may occur with baking in them as I don’t have that taste when I use them just for food storage. I notified the company of my concern but have not received a response.
This I the only way I make lasagne anymore
Well this is fortuitous! I just got my souper cubes today. I made curried vegetable lentil stew, in 1c servings, Jasmine rice in 1 c servings, Lasagne in 2 c servings, roasted veg in ½ c serving size, farro in ½ c size, rotisserie chicken covered in gravy in ½ c size, and a rich beef stew in the 2 c size. Its been a day, im exhausted!! Im so happy to have found your feed. I'm definitely going to try your idea of individual meat loaves! Keep the great content coming!! I have not had them long enough for leftovers (new today), however, that's a go for me!! Thank you!! Oh, i forgot! I also vacuum sealed every cube. My freezer looks so cool now lol.
I’ve just bought Souper Cubes, two of the 250ml ones, and I have a smaller one for big ice cubes too. I have been freezing things in bags before but the idea of freezing meal components like rice and beans made me soo excited, haven’t thought of that before this trend 😂 And rice is also healthier after it’s frozen 😮 Would do this for quinoa and gravy and rice and soup and guacamole and more, loved the tips on beans, clear space from the canned ones.
I vacuum seal and freeze flat where possible – individual or twin portions. In the UK, most of us don’t have room for these enormous freezers 🤣
I live alone and love my Souper Cubes. Yes, I have frozen leftovers in smaller containers, so I don't have to defrost another too large portion. The difference with Souper Cubes is, no little plastic containers getting lost in the freezer or falling out and breaking. Plus you can pop the food out of the cubes so much easier than a plastic container. And because you can pop out the frozen food, the trays are conveniently available for the next thing. Trays stack neatly, and I have frozen different things in the same tray. I have baked mini meatloaves, cooled them, and then froze them all in the same tray. 4 meatloaves all at once, perfectly portioned.
One thing I've done which is a pleasant surprise, is that after I've made a pot of polenta, I have packed the leftover in a cube, refrigerate it and it pops out perfect and is the right size for slicing up and frying.
Yes, they are pricey, but I am sure I spent more on plastic containers in my lifetime. They have earned a place in my kitchen.
Instant subscribe. Useful content and your vibe is so easygoing and friendly. Loved the video.
Oh my goodness!!! I love your channel!!!
I’m a retired single lady of 61 and I absolutely love Souper cubes! The company itself is quite impressive if you know the background you know what I mean. I love them
