Ruth’s Chris Steak House Dress Code Ignites Internet Debate
Ruth’s Chris Steak House reminded restaurants goers on its website that hats, gym wear, pool attire, tank tops and revealing clothing or exposed undergarments are all banned from its dining rooms. Now, diners and other restaurants are weighing in about what’s acceptable to wear and what isn’t. NBC’s Kaylee Hartung reports for TODAY.

They’re a private company. They can do whatever they want.
u mean VANITY. u must be vain to enter our establishment? what a policy.
soprano, dude with the wig 0:54, this is too funny
Now im gonna watch all the Sapranos seasons again
It’s little an ironic, all the Old people are complain. 😅
Don’t get me wrong, I’m old and I agree.
Maybe get some younger people on the show to debate the dress code. That would be fun.
Good for them! We've relaxed our standards to the point of being non-existent and it certainly hasn't improved society. Show respect for yourself and the establishment by putting in a little effort. So sick of seeing people shuffling around shops and restaurants in their PJs and slippers, or pants hanging down around their knees. If you dress like a slob, don't blame people for thinking you ARE a slob.
Let's face it increasingly , societal norms are to run around wearing s*** that most people wouldn't have been caught dead earing in the early sixties and earlier.
No class, no self-respect and very loose morals if any reign supreme
I love this restaurant rule.
If you own a business and want to have certain rules then that’s your right.
I do not want to go to a restaurant and see someone’s underwear while wearing a wifebeater.
Plus wearing something nice while eating out is not a negative.
I’m 100% behind this restaurant rule.
There is no debate. They have a dress code.
This is America. Rather than scream racism. Vote path your wallet. Planty of places allow people to “come as you are”. Houston’s been this way for decades.
Having to tell adults not to dine at a steakhouse with pool or gym attire on is crazy
Understood.
If you don’t like the dress code, DON’T EAT THERE!!!!!!!
Ooh no 🤦 I don't think I would pass for the dress code cause I'm have just barely have lower middle class income + 110$ a meal on average without the dessert 🤔..No thanks
Why would anyone care about this?
Common Sense! Love Ruth’s!
Good for them.
This is what happens when the Fatigue becomes too much 😂
I agree with Ruth Chris come on You're in a fancy establishment All you have to do is go online to find out what's up in the dress code area. Because you know what they say sloppy people bring sloppy people end of story
Stay strong, Ruth’s Chris. Those who object are those you never wanted in your restaurant to begin with.
😂
So who’s steak house is it — Ruths or Chris?
Comparing Ruth’s Chris to chilis and Cheesecake Factory is very weak. It’s 2 totally different experiences with food and service🙄
The dress code is just good common sense. It’s unfortunate that people now have to be reminded of that etiquette.
I can tell you every person sitting on that sofa would be welcome at Ruth Chris, Cheesecake Factory, they would be welcome at any restaurant.
So, if you pay a bunch of money for a meal, you should sit near people dressed like they're homeless? No, this place should be able to enact any dress code it wants.
It's a steakhouse, not a burger joint.
Thomas Farley’s (the “expert”) hair is dreamy!! 👩🏻🦰
Very good ! Excellent !
RC, Eddie V’s have BEEN DOING THIS 😂😂😂😂…… now there’s static about the dress code?! Why?…… I like it because you can put on nice slacks, a polo, dinner jacket etc….. clothes you don’t normally wear everyday unless your job requires it….. don’t change it 💯
Did that guy say 'unappropriate'? 😆🤷♀️🦘🦘
Imagine that a business wanting its patrons to dress accordingly…what is the world coming to 🫨🫨
