Iconic N.J. dining car gets a second life after beloved restaurant is torn down

This beloved landmark of North Jersey is getting preserved! 🚂 The Cyprus will once again travel the tracks after serving as a stationary dining car at the former Essex House for decades. The 117-year-old train car was hoisted into the air by massive hydraulic cranes and placed onto a truck Tuesday, where it travelled to Pennsylvania to be restored. Before it ended up in Jersey, the luxury car traveled the continent for prominent families in the early 1900s. The former site of The Essex House will be demolished and turned into an apartment complex.
