Floundering despite one brother being an owner and the other a manager there’s a boatload of confusion as to who’s actually running the restaurant Larry Seafood is gasing for air like a fish out of Water I’m duby Larry and I’m one of of the owners here at Low’s Low’s was first opened in 1938 by my grandparents being in a small town being here for 81 years is unique in itself it’s always been my goal that I would carry it on my name is David Lowry here

At Low’s I pretty much buy everything I’m the purchasing manager how much corn and craft credit do you have W was given ownership I’m the glorified gopher and the results weren’t exactly what we were expecting what they got the baby tatoes up here now they right there

Oh okay David dby nobody is really in charge of nothing this restaurant just runs with arene and Pam I’m Pam and I’ve been here 28 years at low I’m arleene and I’ve been here for 43 years we used to have a line at the door people

Waiting to get in people angry cuz they don’t have a seat the best crab cakes oysters too remember we used people would drive from miles for that 10 years ago busy and now they just don’t come in anymore is it Corner craft is over there all right y’all have a good night the

With only 24 hours to get Larry Seafood back up to scale I need to find out why the locals are fishing for other dining options when the staff knows I’m coming trust me they all tend to adjust their performances to hide the problems so I’m going undercover how do I drive this think

Oh oh my God good morning I’m going in with a group of local senior citizens who remember Larry’s Heyday now how many’s been to Larry’s before yeah oh boy a lot of us it’s been a year since I’ve been but are we officially open yeah that’s good with a busload of locals

Eager for fresh seafood I have a feeling Larry’s might have an eye opening experience how are y’all hi unfortunately Larry’s interior is far from fine the tables and booths look dated and the color scheme might be from 1938 as well now decco nothing’s been changed in nearly four decades the smell

Though can you smell that smells it’s like a strong fishy smell SM David y’all want the broccoli go in a bowl or a plate I don’t know put it in a bowl see what it have I need your nose for one thing though yes try one maybe fry one up or

Something they been in in about a week probably were youall ready to order I’m going to have as an appetiser the fried oysters we’re ordering classic seafood dishes and Southern standards crab cakes and riye steak um medium one medium I got one right here that a place like Larry’s should have perfected after

After 82 years I’ll do the crabs I’d like to get the broiled some scallops scallops cook here we go it’s oyster Bowl that’s for you and R all right crab cakes behind you here we go the steak just tastes tough cheap quality fried oysters don’t eat any they were bad I’m fresh

Taste to them a little bit sour the cakes help yourself I just swallowed a piece of shell I think they don’t taste fresh those crabcakes the rest used to Pride itself on freshness and an amazing product I can tell you now this product is second third grade oh Seafood

Out going to make it look so much more modern with the renovation off to a strong start I need to make sure that Larry’s kitchen staff have a new menu to match right guys come over right this is my Epic Center look at it turn around

Look inside the oven brand new oh it’s not brand new uh it’s 3 years old spray new yeah because we clean it you need to step up and run and control that backer house and if we don’t need it we don’t buy it right we’re going to make money

Not lose it now let’s start off with the oysters lightly dredged shallof fried served on a bed of horse redish cream topped with chives look fresh next to that we got a beautiful homemade seafood chowder with crab shrimp clams bacon pearl onions and potatoes next to that

We got the pan striped sea bath simply done with cream corn spinach and then that nice crispy texture of fried onions next to that we got a beautiful seasoned roasted chicken served with a caramelized onion gravy toay green beans and the most amazing mashed potatoes

Look good very very good next to that a beautiful grilled marinated New York strip served with beautifully baked loaded potato Anthony how important is that job to you it’s really important I’ve been there 33 years do you have a big family at home no I have about 3y

Old my other two kids they grown and only yeah wow so you went back for more congratulations thank you so you you are not ready for retirement so your son is nine yes sir what’s your ambition with him to make him 10 times better and push him 10

During the summer but the local population isn’t blending into this restaurant for the rest of the year and now storm clouds have formed owner and head chef L Smith has spent the last several years literally blending his home and work life to the point where both are unrecognizable with hurricane

Force winds increasing the owner needs to change course quickly or his resturant and family could be swept out to see my name is l Smith and I am the chef co-owner of Blendon Main in manisan blend on Maine was opened in 2014 through Ray reviews we did really well

Uh the town embraced us but we’ve leveled off and we’ve seen a bit of the decline blend is highly seasonal we do really well two months out of the year but there’s 10 months left and you’re struggling to break even so I’ve watched the numbers dip we are always a few bad

Weeks away from having to make really tough decisions we might have to close the doors [ __ ] Frozen again it’s hard owning your own restaurant I do everything at at blend except for cooking I’ve been working with Tara since 1998 she’s been with me the whole ride she’s had a wonderful wife wonderful

With the duck okay and so just a nice little score so what that does it helps to break down the fat a nice season now 90% of the duck as you know is going to be cooked fat side down but these to be seed at the sides as well
