AUTHENTIC South African Food is INSANE
AD | South Africa and the food celebrated there has been on our bucket list for a while! So when the South African Tourism challenged us to see how much we could explore in 3 different cities in a single day each… we snapped at the chance. Our first stop is Durban… with Zulu traditions, Indian inspired bunny chow and countless other curries plus Portuguese influenced piri-piri prawns.

What South African food do we HAVE to try on our trip??
The Zambian🇿🇲 in me has never been so excited about a Sorted Series 🥹
23:45 Left Durban over 25 years ago, but the dramatic sea is something that’s never left me. I still feel most at home among the sounds of waves and water
I think it’s certainly Jamie’s size of dumplings 😅
STOPPPP! when were you here?! 🤯🤩
I've been watching you lot since day dot and I am stoked you made it to my home country.
That joy and warmth you felt is the spirit of Ubuntu and I'm sure you felt it everywhere you went.
Can't wait to see how you experienced my city, Cape Town.
Hope you took home amazing memories of good food, beautiful places and friendly people ❤
Hmm Sorted Food and Mark Wiens all in SA this week! Well that's a good chunk out of the Tourist Boards money (yes I know they say the board paid for the trip but I started typing before that popped up and am not deleting).
Guys – this comment section is almost as amazing as the video. Love this.
Don't know if Sorted or viewers have ever had a giant puffball mushroom? But those mahooosive dumplings reminded me of them, bubbling away in the stock pot. Going to try it with herby suet dumplings (doughbuoys) next time I make soup.
Talk about culture shock. I would have assumed their current military is using modern equipment like rifles where you learn what to do during training and the handedness of a person doesn't really matter. they learn to shoot right handed and are less accurate or they use the left handed methods if the weapon was designed for it? to completely forget about using the hand their brain is telling them to use, for everything, for their entire lives so they can throw a spear better seems insane to me. i normally wouldn't comment about such things but you did choose to leave it and the "men don't belong in the kitchen" comment so seems to be fair game
Love this one. As a Chef that grew up in Durban and worked in kzn for the past 8 years and moved to the western cape, this made me feel like i was back at home
25:25 Jaime doing the good food happy dance, I see you big man!
this was a surprise as a south african and I am incredibly happy
I love these travel videos. It's a delight to see how you all were so respectful of the local culture, and the locals were so kind.
I hope you boys also did a Afrikaans boere feast as well?
But I will reserve judgement.
Clean your damn camera lens PLEASE
I hope y’all got a Gatsby! 🙂
hope you got to see the penguins
So cool to see you guys discover South African food! Would love to see you try Bobotie, it's my favoutite South African dish 😍
Wonderful to watch from chilly and damp England – what an amazing country and people. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, thank you!
Poor Mike! One thing is missing out on the experience and all the delicious food, but then he also had to sit and narrate the experiences he didn't get to have 😂
SA definitely going on my holiday location list!
What is going on… all these youtubers in SA…. ishowspeed a few weeks ago…. Mark Wiens might still be in Cape Town, and now you guys as well!!
Enjoy the food, guys!!!
All the best!
Im so excited for this series! South Africa is such a diverse melting pot of cultures and traditions and each area is so vastly different from each other but everywhere still has that unique South Africaness to it. Its amazing to watch our every day from the perspective of others. I look forward to episode 3 when you come to my hood and experience Cape Town!
Oh and next time you have to bring Kush, James and Mike and do a meet and greet!
Used to live near Sandton when my dad was posted in Joburg. Absolutly loved seeing places I visited when I was young, and the nicest and welcoming people I met
i never really thought yall would ever try african food
Great video!
I like beef cheeks so I’ve technically had cows head before. I don’t like a dish that’s eaten locally here in Scotland it’s potted head. It’s cows head that’s cooked with salt and pepper and it’s put into pots where it sets into jelly. It’s the jelly I don’t like. If you heat it back to a liquid the meat is fine but it’s supposed to be eaten cold jelly and all. The butcher also makes a similar dish using tripe that’s not to my liking even if it’s hot and the jelly is melted. Each to their own as they say.
love this kind of content!
17:32 J's look to camera had me cackling 😂
No Mike? A pity 😢
What was that casual racism "i thought I would be eating zebra" ???? Not cool! had to shut the video off at that point!
Where do you get these people to show you our cooking…that phutu is more stywe pap thet you get in the Northern provences…phutu is a light crumbly pap not unlike couscous or rice and eaten with a spoon. Us real South Africans eats stywe pap…which you can form into a ball and dip into the sheba, scoop up a stew or form into a vessel to combine with meat, salads, seshebo, marogo etc…not this touristy shit they trying to give you. Pls do the right research before you send out people to showcase our foods
So glad you came to South Africa, my parents honeymooned at the Oyster Box in 1965
As a Durbanite living in London, this was an amazing surprise for my Sunday evening viewing!
I used to put sliced banana and Mrs Balls chutney with Durban curry – it helped with the heat!
South Africa has always been on my bucket list. This just confirmed that.
Feels more like a Discover Connection video. Not that I'm complaining, I love those guys!
