  1. Which African American cooking trick that was later banned do you remember seeing or using, and what story from your family kitchen makes you believe it was actually smart and worth passing down?

  2. And every southern family knows this as well my late husbands aunt did this all the time. As well as my late hubbys mother and step mother

  3. I am african, my grandma use to put her food on the stove at 6am and eat it in the late afternoon but the fire was so slow.

  4. Are you poet or accountant or what? Because you know jackshit about nutritional biochemistry. And they're not banned, LOL!! Oh Unka Tom, you are sooooo owned!!!

  5. This isn’t “banned” or just southern, African American culture. My white grandparents from the NW taught me the same things. It’s just that we’ve all been brainwashed by corporations who sell products.

  6. These meals were not from African-Americans these Mills are from black Americans the country ones at that nobody in Africa cook like this even the ones that are in America this is a black American thing right here.

  7. Leviticus 11:2-8, 26, 46-47
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
26 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

These are not uninformed dietary directives. They are the Preserving dietary commandments of the LORD Our GOD, Who Created this species called Man.

  8. We are so progressive, advanced and integrated and talk about the grease, oil fatbacks we grew up on and other "unhealthy" foods and not living past 40….,….

  9. The Black American Slaves that cook for their masters handled some of the finest seasons in the world. Pork should’ve never been a part of their diet, it was forced on them

  10. All people exist today because of ancient traditions passed down by women.
It's great that some groups of people have held onto their traditions rather than let, 'scientists' and governments dictate to them.
Whether holding onto these traditions was due to recognising their value or a lack of choice due to poverty, isn't important.
How many other instances are there of knowledge being, 'proved' by science that was earlier dismissed as, 'old wives tales?'
Knowledge discovered over thousands of years; through trial and error is never inferior to the results of someone in a white coat; thinking tradition is inferior to white coats is simply the result of being brainwashed by a male-centric society.
Example: Thinking men are the best chefs is only possible using a specific and narrow definition of, 'best' that only applies in a corporate setting. It ignores that, 'best' for homemakers involves a budget and a meal that appeals to everyone including those with specific dietary needs.
The world will remain imbalanced and continue to become increasingly toxic if people continue to define most things in terms of what men are good at and what, 'science' can prove.

  11. Now we need to say that Scientists got their “education and degrees” from Black Americans, and they need to give us that “credit” also!

  12. Pork contains horrible bacteria even after cooking it. A plant based diet without red meat, cheeses, lard and bacon grease. Its why black African-Americans suffer from heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and other lethal diseases. Dont believe me? Call the national institute of health.

  13. 🤎🤎🤎💯 If you are having anything to do with pig's meat with regards to eating it, you are sinning against The Most High… period!

  14. 🤎🤎🤎💯 The real question is, why are they so interested in our food preparation at all? They have lied and said so many things and then changed their minds about nearly everything they claimed they knew about. Who can keep up with their constant ping pong inconsistency?

  15. Pot liquor with cornbread in it is my favorite thing to eat!!! Nothing more comforting and satisfying!!! My Mama raised us 4 girls on these wonderful foods and cooked them the same way! She taught us all how to cook by the time we were about 6. I’m 60 now and cook the same way my Mama did!!! Bacon grease is essential in my kitchen!!!❤ also I’m an old 60 yr old white granny and been cooking like this my whole life😂. That don’t make a bit of difference…we all had somebody to teach us these methods of cooking..no matter what color our skin is!!❤❤❤

  16. It’s not just the cholesterol issue (saturated fat) with bacon fat. It’s the sodium and weight gaining properties that cause high blood pressure and other issues that lead to heart attack and stroke.

  21. Delicious dishes here 🤤 I love me some greens. My grandfathers, father and uncles all gave their lives as Americans fighting for American. My Big Mama was Lumbee and Cherokee.

  22. I learned how to cook on cast-iron and my grandmother left me all of her pans.. I put pot liquor with a small amount of cornbread in my child's baby bottle in between meals when I cooked greens or dry beans, and it helped with her naps and bowels regular.. I learned how to make biscuits with lard, and fry with lard too.. No cholesterol or high blood pressure.. Sorry, but colonizers can't teach me to cook..

  23. Ummmm, someone forgot to give me the memo about all these "banned" techniques and foods. And it could have stayed a secret. I cook the way my ancestors did. I've watched many things we weren't supposed to have (i.e., butter) I've used for years. Bet not bring COUNTRY CROCK to my home!

  24. All of the system true and now that I see white people Mexicans and all other type of racist look at us quick certain ways on YouTube now they’re trying to pick it up. Funny thing is we all have different taste buds
