I Review MOWGLI! Is The Food Really Made In House?
Recently Gary Eats reviewed Mowgli, and said he felt like the food was prepared off-site and reheated on-site.
Straight away Nisha Katona, the woman behind Mowgli rebuked this, saying everything is prepared in-house.
So I am going to find out who is right, and who is wrong!!

Time to see if everything here is made in house or not – what do you think??
Beautiful Restaurant Greeno, Tenner for a Lamb dish (albeit small) is great these days, thinkif you had ordered more to suit your palate, you would have scored higher
Hi my love friend hope your good and your lovely family.
Trust your opinion greeno.decir a bit fairytaleish.
Good on you greeno for sorting that for us.
The food sounds delicious what you have ordered.
Hope it is and you enjoy.
Sending much love to you and your lovely family.
Xx❤❤
Hey Greeno .
Please keep your eye out for a few new channels on the go, that may interest you,

2. Danny Vs Food
3. Danny and the Mrs
4. Mrs Yorkshire and Danny.
you said what i thought it is half what a standard portion is in a curry house yet still charging £10
and of course chicken thigh is a cheaper item than breast.
when you compare with were you get yours how about price and portion size.
means you have buy more to get full. do think the price a little much if they were closer to the £8 price
have you done your own take away
I was reading about Nisha on google earlier & see a note that she has 34 locations. It said in another post, She has an estimated wealth of £30 Million. I think she should cut her restaurant menu prices & offer better value, If she has this much wealth.
I also had a look at the current vacancies in the chain. There is a few. It is quite clear that she also needs to pay her employees more. A line chef is also on a minimum wage amount for over 25 & 2 Years experience required. You can earn a lot more elsewhere & working many other jobs. It is quite clear that she needs to invest in them. Bar Staff & Waiting staff can also earn a lot more than this & with tips in many towns & also London. Having seen the salaries on offer. I think she needs to stop focussing on all of her wealth & give back some of her £30 Million wealth to the employees in a salary increase. Service charges often go back to the staff, As many people say, It shouldn't be there to bump up salaries or income.
I definitely will be avoiding this restaurant & chain. I could probably say a lot more on my own views, But, I would no doubt get some legal notice complaint incoming.
Oh dear another can of worms😂Must say I didn’t feel the need to jump on a plane with this one. Too cold here for an old girl like me to be going out 6F(-14C) this Saturday morning, getting toasty this afternoon 16F snow everywhere.😊
That tin plate didn't sit well with me. An attempt to seem 'street food' 😀 But the food looked OK.
Looked ok but not as good as a proper RRuby 👍🏼
metal plates are used only in Russian prisons. is this the same concept
Great review greeno, but did not like Gary the muppet bit.
.
Gary is a top guy and didn’t deserve that. The food looked bland and would not tempt me in to this restaurant. I cook Indian food and the profit margin is vast even in takeaways.
If the base gravy is cooked in batches I guess the lamb/chicken is also pre cooked. Add a few spices and charge £10 plus for a small lamb curry. Even onion bhaji’s are pre fried in restaurants.
I am not saying that this franchise practices what the majority of Indian restaurants/takeaways do.
Great video…. thanks !
The price isn't too bad, especially for down south, but I am going to have to make a trip down to Bristol so we can go to Urban Tandoor. One of the best curries I have ever had.
Compared to some of the curry houses you have visited on the channel it didn’t look anything special. I know they are after the street food vibe but the way the food is served up wouldn’t be my cup of tea.
Good review Greeno, I was thinking what you said at the end. It was a tad expensive and yes, probably around £100 for a couple, which is too pricey for me. I would rather get good ingredients and cook one at home, with a nice bottle of wine.
Mowgli is crap
The food looks utterly mediocre. The drink? Wish I could taste it, but it was very pretty. Prices? A bit too much, IMO. The metal serving dishes and plates made for a very grating, percussive element that would have put me off. And I know you can't control what goes on in the background, but that enormous woman tussling non-stop with her huge lavendar sweater was very distracting! It's a very pretty restaurant, though.
I would not accept a metal plate.
Thats for dog food
Lovely restaurant…i like nisha …but r u eating off a tray??@ when i go to brighton nxt will try the smoke hse fish ..it looked great 👍
Hi greeno can i recommend Hook Tandoori its in hook …itself opposite green man pub hotel maybe u n Gary…😊
I had to watch this twice, fist time the lady with the new clothes was distracting me so much (sorry but it was enthralling). So I watched it again and concentrated on you.
As usual a fair balanced review and as you had doubt you asked about the food prep being done off site and that lovely man (who definitely deserves a promotion) answered your concerns. Mowgli is not for everyone and I have only been there once so just my opinion but it was the atmosphere that I liked and the lovely server who told the chef I was a spice wimp so he did a special "baby" dish for me which I think shows they do make the dishes on site.
I seem to recall that most of Mowgli curry's are based on a 3/4 main ingredients of flavour. while the currys are pleasant (and fragrant), they, and the portions, have never blown my mind. And while I appreciate that the heat level is catered for all (not just for those with asbestos mouths), I've always felt the spicing to be below where I'd like it, with no option to bump it up. basically, I see Mowgli as nice to visit if passing, but probably wouldn't make a special effort to visit…. (ps I wrote all that while cooking a chicpea & sweet potato curry :D)
I think for me it's probably the cost is up there, especially given the portion size. And as a chain, it's probably a bit bland for me to suit all tastes. I think I'll stick to my independent Indians 😊
A great review as always Greeno. I have seen the Gary review and now yours. I followed Nisha Katona for many years on Twitter (going back a long way) when she was cooking from home (I think part time as she was working in law at the time). At the same time I was following Dan (The Curry Guy) also who was doing blogs, books and videos – it was a good time before YouTube really took off with content creators such as yourself. / Anyway I think you provided a good summary and possibly quite a generous mark. Very enjoyable content Sir! / Mark
Go up notth iove, always better!
You should checkout bundobust if ever up in the vacinity of the northern powerhouse. Bundo chat highly recommended
Nope, not worth the money they are asking. 👎
And it's very cheeky to add on for charity when you are out having a meal. If I want to give to charity I will but adding it on to my bill is crazy, most people will be too ( nice) to question this. Which charity? And I'm not up on this, but don't these restaurants get tax breaks if they give to charity! They are robbing people and people are to ( nice) to question it.
thats gary banned hahaha , he is still a legend
can guarantee you that if you review a bad curry, it won't be as bad as the one I had in Singapore
I would suggest ‘constructed’ in house. Not for me but looks a lovely place for taking your new date, mum, aunt grandparents etc
I was not impressed. FYI, she was originally a solicitor, say no more
I’m sure in terms of value the curry houses beat Mowgli every time.
Gary didn’t like it cause it didn’t have fish and chips or breakfast. Gary has lost touch. Sorry Greeno.
Show the whole menu perhaps.
have no use for lamb – ever – but the large women in background was interesting
