24 HOURS Eating in San Francisco CHINATOWN π₯‘ Ultimate Cantonese Food Tour Part 2
We’re continuing our 24 HOURS STRAIGHT eating marathon through San Francisco’s CHINATOWN to uncover the absolute BEST Cantonese food! From legendary hole-in-the-wall wonton noodle shops to fresh-made Chaoshan rice rolls to old-school bakeries that’ve been serving the community for 40+ years β this is Chinatown at its most authentic.
This part of the food tour dives deep into the neighborhood’s humble institutions: flaky wife cakes that take me straight back to afterschool snacks in Hong Kong, insanely crispy clay pot rice, and Buddhist vegetarian dishes that remind me of temple restaurant meals with my grandma. Join me as we find out if these Chinatown classics can transport me right back home to Hong Kong!

pls. do a Part 3.
Which top three bbq restaurants do you recommend for char siu, roast duck and roast piggy in SF?
Best place to get Cantonese food outside of Hong Kong
Hmmm raw dog . ππ€€
It always brightens my day when YouTube notifies me there's a new Chonky video out. Especially when you say something like "Jiggly, exactly how you want it" π€ 1st class content as always. Would totally love to see a part 3. P.s my soup crow sticker arrived, so cute. Need to find a special place for it. And my SF tote's been shipped, I'm totes looking forward to it π
Try the tiny fried chicken drummettes from some of the delis on Stockton St.
Yin DUβs noodle used to be very good and bouncy when owned by the old couple. They sold the shop about June of 2024 and now run by the kids of a family that just immigrated from mainland China. I still see the old lady (former owner) who continues to help out from time to time. But I agree that they seemed to overcook the noodles. Most would put in cold bath immediately to stop the cooking. But it seemed the just skipped that step
Thanks for the tour!
It has been long time since I have clay pot rice and I'll try to get some before this month is over. She can try East Bay & Peninsula as we have variety of eatery, cafe, and restaurant all over this bay area.
I liked how you chonked down the egg tart. I miss ε¦ζι½, their εζ‘η³ walnut paste is the best. ππΌ
Wished you put the name of the restaurants on the lower corner and address as you went by so fast and I had to rewind to see what the restaurant you went to.
Thanks for another great video, Yes, Part 3, the "Gentrification" of Chinatown =p Mister Jiu's, China Live, Empress By Boon and Four Kings =p While these are all great places, its also sad that the Aunties and Uncles and Grand ma/pa's in Chinatown will never go =( Keep up the great work!!!! Let me know if you need help when you film there, I can also be the guy that says Told you this place is good =p
Yes to part 3! Love your video reviews!
Part 3 would be good. How about the Take out places like Good Mong Kok.
Makes me hungry. I love cooking, so i will try to duplicate what I saw. Being the family cook, my sister tells me everything I make for the holidays is good.
We were just in Chinatown, took BART from Oakland. Love Hon's noodle House and Ma's. Born and raised there in the 50s and 60s things have changed so much. My Cantonese is terrible, but I can still order Won ton noodles and duck over rice.
Thank you for keeping it real
Love, Love, Love, this SF Chinatown series! Your videos give me ideas about places I need to check out when I go hang out with my friends that still live near SF Chinatown. The bottom layer of the rice has always been my favorite…soaking it in soup to soften it before scraping it out of the pot…YUM!! Wishing You and Yours A Happy, Healthy, And Prosperous Year Of The Horse!

*Would love a part threeπ
I wanted to like and subscribe to your channel but it's so fuckin stupid that you don't have subtitles. Not everyone speaks cantonese so I don't fucking know what you're eating. It'd be nice to have subtitles so if I do go to your recommendation I'll know what to order. God damn, subtitles is so fuckin basic.
Thank you. There isnβt too many Bay Area food vloggers
Would love it even more if you could pass on the four letter words so I could show it to my mom.
You got πππ
I can almost taste the eel rice from your description π
You fucked the clay pot lol
Damn I need me some steamed rice to go with that egg plant hot pot for sure π
Excellent video. I immediately subscribed.
I am so impressed by your videos. I have lived in SF Chinatown all my life, and yet you are teaching me a lot about it. Thank you.

Looks great! Thanks for the video upload. β€
Subscribed! I know all you say is authentic because you used the βFβ word. Lol.πβ€
Part 3, please include a visit to Golden Gate Bakery for their egg tart. Itβs a knee buckler. π
OMG! Eel claypot rice!!!πβ€.
Yo imma be there next week, any places that has stinky fermented tofu?
Curious what makes the claypot rice "Taishan style"? I know the region is known for its yellow eel claypot rice, but what is the cooking method (is it simply the fire?) or ingredients used that distinguishes it from other styles?
Yes. Made up to the 100 Different Food in Chinatown in SF, please. Thank YOU!
BTW – Is your really job/business is ARTs?
– Doug (just ONLY 3 Chinese and 1 English from my Mom in Canada)
Could you slow it down when saying the dishes in Canto? For us ABC's out there, trying to pick up the lingo so we can order in restaurants on our own.
You gotta try the cocktail bun from Garden Bakery. My dad used to bring that home every other day, so I've eaten it my entire life and imo, it's the best version I've had anywhere
Yes, part 3, please. This is my neighborhood and I haven't been to most of these places.
holy shit these lashes look way better on you girl, makes your face look brighter and more awake
Part 3 please! Iβm trying to get Chonked!
Have you been to New Town Bakery in Vancouver? Good BBQ pork buns. They used to do buy 6 buns and they donβt charge tax haha. Not sure if thatβs still the case
OMG! Yes! We need Part 3! π
