  2. Based on available history of the company's production, Arm & Hammer did not necessarily "switch" away from Wyoming resources to synthetic, but rather updated its production methods to utilize a chemical process involving mined trona ore.
    Key details regarding the origin of Arm & Hammer baking soda:
    Wyoming Source: Arm & Hammer has utilized, and continues to utilize, trona ore mined in Green River, Wyoming, as the source for their sodium bicarbonate.
    The Process: While the base ingredient is mined in Wyoming, the manufacturing process involves refining this trona ore into soda ash, which is then reacted with carbon dioxide to produce sodium bicarbonate. This is considered a chemical manufacturing process, often described as "synthetic" compared to "natural" (purely mined/ground) sodium bicarbonate, such as nahcolite.
    Production History: Church & Dwight (parent company of Arm & Hammer) established its factory in Green River, Wyoming, in 1968, indicating a long-term commitment to using Wyoming resources.
    While some consumers differentiate between the "naturally mined" (e.g., Bob's Red Mill) and "processed from mined trona" (e.g., Arm & Hammer), Arm & Hammer has not left the Wyoming source, but rather refines it to create their product.
    Arm and Hammer isn't as pure as it used to be.
    The only pure baking soda comes from Frontier Co-Op.
