After a lightning strike knocked our farm power out for multiple days we decided to make the place blackout proof with a proper solar plus battery setup.
While the boys are on the roof getting it installed, I’m doing my part the only way I know how
cooking a proper feed for the crew.
If you’re in Australia and looking into solar, battery storage, blackout backup, or just want to cut your power bill, this is who we went with
Big thanks to @RESINC Solar for looking after us. They already installed solar and batteries at my home training gym, Freestyle MMA, so I trusted them to handle the farm the right way.
What I respect most is they’re a social enterprise. Every job supports community and charity projects, and anyone I send their way will be part of future charity work with us too.
Farm setup
24kW solar on the roof
54kWh FranklinWH batteries in the garage
So if the grid goes down, we’ve still got backup power, and it should take a serious chunk out of the electricity bill as well.
We’ve got our own water.
Our own veggies.
Our own beef.
Now we’ve got our own power too.
