ELEVATED WEST AFRICAN DINING IN LEKKI – NEW ILE EROS
📌 If you believe Nigerian food deserves a global stage, SAVE this 📌
There are restaurants… and then there are statements. I recently dined at the newly relaunched Ile Eros by Chef Tolu Eros, and from the moment I walked in, I understood the assignment.
The space? Stunning. Rich in culture and such a refreshing shift from the usual Lagos restaurant aesthetic.
We started with Spa Water – cucumber and mint water and had local snacks – Guguru, Epa & Chin Chin and suddenly I was transported to Igbosere road. Nostalgia activated.
DRINKS:
* Sapele Water (ogogoro, strawberry, dill, mint, lemon) – strong and so delicious
* Omolomo (non-alcoholic mint ginger passion lemonade) – super refreshing
* Red Bottoms (tequila, zobo, ginger, tangerine) – mad!
* Bubble Gum (non-alcoholic citrus blend)
STARTERS:
• Puff Puff Party with meatballs & zobo pepper sauce
• Dambunama Rolls with sweet pepper jam
• Egusi Croquettes with pulled goat & mashed yam
• Na Hous Ewa – honey beans hummus with agege flatbread & agoyin chutney (THIS ONE?? Insane.) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation? Portions? Plating? Chef’s kiss.
MAINS:
• Signature Unity Jollof with slow-cooked short ribs (fell off the bone!)
• Nigerian King Prawns with cream corn & cucumber relish
• Fried Fish Fillet with coconut garri crust & agbalumo soy glaze
• Chilli Crème Snails with efinrin cream (I wanted to buy the sauce home)
• Oxtail Mash – soft, rich and satisfying
By this point? Food coma was loading.
DESSERT (yes, I made it here alone 😂):
• Lagos Chocolate – choco milo brownie with uyayak ice cream & coconut chin chin dust – omggggg!
• Boli & Ekpa – peanut oil cake with roasted plantain custard
Guys… this is Nigerian and West African food presented elevated, but still deeply rooted. The flavour profiles are layered, bold and memorable.
West African cuisine is culture. It’s history. It’s technique. And it deserves a global stage.
I had such a beautiful time here and I honestly cannot wait to return.
