Ingredients:

12 oz bag frozen peas, thawed and drained
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (mild, medium, or sharp)
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (3–4 slices if thick cut)
½ cup red onion, finely diced
1 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper to taste (about ½ tsp of a salt & pepper blend)

Tips from Mary Katherine:

You can swap the cheeses — Colby or Monterey Jack work great too
Prefer bigger cheesy bites? Cube your cheese instead of shredding it
Bacon crumbles from the bag work in a pinch, but real cooked bacon is always best
Great alongside a sandwich for lunch or as a side at your next spring gathering

I have that chopper to..I love it

  2. I grew up with my mother making Pea Salad but I have never made it. My husband is a northerner and said he didin't want it so I let him get by without making it. But I'm going to try your recipe, Katherine. I have one of those dicer/chopper gadgets. They are great.

  3. Looks delicious!! I usually buy onions on sale, chop them up with my chopper, and freeze them. So when I need them, just defrost and go!!

  4. I've noticed that you use a lot of dairy products In your recipes. That suits me perfectly because I really like dairy products. Thanks .

  5. Oh, wow! I had forgotten about pea salad. I will be making pea salad very soon! 😁 Thank you for your videos as always!😊❤

  6. Hi Mary Katherine
Your pea salad looks so delicious and refreshing.
Thank you for sharing and you have a wonderful day! 🤗💜

  7. Thank you for making this pea salad! It brings back great memories of my Mother and Grandmother making this. We always enjoyed it with a good tomato sandwich. Our grandparents always had a big garden and no matter what we plant now it just doesn't taste as good as theirs did. I look back now and I'm so thankful for the way we were raised. I look forward to more of your spring recipes.

  8. I LOVE PEA SALAD!🤩 My Grandma Lassiter made the Best❤ Now your recipe is different from hers, she put a boil egg in with small chucks of velveeta cheese, red onion,
and Miracle Whip…. And she use Can Le Sueur Peas….. Delicious 😋 She would also do this recipe with Van Camps Pork-N- Beans just as Delicious…. Thanks for your recipe and bringing back the good old stuff 💖 I’m going to try it but you know what they
    say…. Nothing better than Grandma’s…. 😂❤💖🌸💋
    I just LOVE your channel!!!💝

  9. This is a family favorite. We add lemon juice and dried dill to the mayo. I like the suggestion of different cheeses.

  10. Good choice, Spring is coming! (Us Northerners though need a dab of sugar in this perfect salad…also in cornbread and anything with cooked tomatoes!) Love your channel, thanks!

  11. I too learned about this salad as a young adult. Except we did the ingredients in layers topped w/a light blue cheese dressing. I think we had more variety in veggies. It looked very pretty in a glass bowl so all the layers could be seen. Thanks for the reminder. I’m going to make it again!😊

  12. Great easy recipe I've had it with cubed ham instead of bacon and it works too. Great Easter ham leftover dish. Thank you for all your recipes I try to make each one.

  13. I never had pea salad growing up either. My husband did and my mother in law used to make this. Your recipe looks better than hers (as do most of your recipes)!

  14. Love this recipe, Mary Katherine. It’s an oldie but goodie. Haven’t had it in years. Thanks for sharing! It’s on my menu for Easter!

  15. This looks so good. I just really love your channel, I've made alot of your recipes for my church, anow I will do this sweet pea one for Sunday . Thank you so much for your time and kindness❤ patsy

  16. In the '70s we used canned peas and cut little cubes of cheese instead of grated, and elbow macaroni, no bacon.

  17. This was not a regular salad in our family either but it seemed like every gathering we went to, where folks brought a dish to pass, someone brought this. And it went quickly!!! 😊

  18. I grew up in Jersey. Moved to Florida then WA State then MN. While here in MN I traveled for work all over ND, that's where I first had this salad. It was so different from anything I'd ever had before. I'm so glad to see this. I hadn't bothered to make it but now I certainly will. Thank you

  19. You had me at "peas"! I love them so much, creamed, this wonderful salad you are sharing, never ends! I also have a garden, and I will put my starts out soon. I will make this with ham, yum! Thank you, Mary Katherine! 💞

  20. If you prefer small cubed cheese, just cut a thick slice of cheese from a large chunk and put it in your veggie chopper. God Bless

  21. The variation I grew up with was peas, canned tuna, diced tomatoes and red onion served with crackers and lettuce leaves 😋
