The SGV Spot with Lunch Specials That FILL Your Table
Big Ma’s Kitchen in Rosemead has a lunch special that starts at $10.99, and it comes with soup and rice. But the interesting part is that you can also order dim sum at the same time, so your table can end up looking like this pretty quickly.
We came to see how far the lunch specials actually go, tried a few dishes, and also added some dim sum that’s available every day from 10 to 3. There were a couple things here we don’t see that often in LA, plus some solid value items that are easy to come back for.
If you’re looking for a casual SGV spot where you can mix a full lunch plate with dim sum and still keep the bill pretty reasonable, this is one to know about.

Been wanting to try this spot. Looks good! Thanks for sharing!
Dim sum was disgusting when I tried it.
I think the sea bass you're referring to is the Chilean sea bass that usually comes in as a trunk. The bill reads "鲈鱼", so I imagine that's a (California?)farm-raised version that's more elongated and weighs about 2-3 pounds. It has soft bones and is fatty. It's my favorite fresh (swimming in the tank) fish because it has great flavor and is very inexpensive.
"Phoenix claws" lol are my favorite thing at dimsum. Do you guys have a ranking for them?
The placed used to be called the Jade Restaurant. Used to go there to get their To-Go items. $10 for a big box of salt and pepper pork chops. Stopped after sanitary issues found there and the place got shut down a few times by the health department. Might give this place a go in a few months.
That sea bass is NOT the same thing that you showed — White Seabass is a different fish, and is usually not sold commerically except to restaurants near the fishing areas. I know that because the minimum size to catch white seabass is 28 inches. I'm not really sure which fish you actually got since almost anything seems to be called a sea bass.
The skin on the roast pork is so burnt.
