Here’s how my mom preps and cooks beans (with no splitting) so she always has them on hand for a variety of dishes like bean smoothie, soups and stews, and multigrain rice.
INGREDIENTS: 1 cup (197g) chickpeas 1 cup (190g) pinto beans 1 cup (173g) black soybeans 6 cups water (you need to make sure it's more than just submerged since the beans absorb water and the tops can dry out if there isn’t enough)
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Add the beans to a large bowl and cover with 6 cups of water. Soak for at least 8 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse well.
2. Pour about 1 inch of water into an instant pot and place a collapsible steamer basket inside (the water should not touch the basket). Add the soaked beans in an even layer. Lock the lid and close the pressure-release valve. Cook on High Pressure for 7 minutes.
4. Turn off the instant pot and quick-release the pressure. Carefully open the lid, allowing the steam to escape away from you. Remove the steamer basket and let the beans cool to room temperature. Transfer to a zipper-lock bag and freeze.
I have that exact instant pot. And, only 7 mins! That is amazing. Thank you. I'm totally prepping these. I was telling my mom about your mom and these beans this afternoon.
Hi, how many different smoothies does your mom drink daily? I saw another video of a smoothie, and I don't think it had these beans in it, but you said she drinks it everyday. Have you done a what she eats in a day video? I'd like to incorporate some of the things she eats into my diet.
So random but that strainer is my favorite. I've had it for 13 years since my mom passed and it was hers for decades before that. I've bought other ones and always go back to that one. Moms always know quality.
I don't think I've seen your mom's bean smoothie. Have you shown her drinking those before. Your mom looks so good and healthy I follow some of her routine 🥰
“𝘝𝘰𝘪𝘭à” is pronounced 𝘷𝘸𝘢𝘩-𝘭𝘢𝘩 in English (with the “𝘷” sound at the front of the word even becoming silent w/some English dialects), because of the word’s … French origins? I think? 🤷🏽♀️ Not exactly sure (tho I have no doubt someone French can / will destroy me with the 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 pronunciation of that word in French). Anyway, the word means “𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴” or “𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴!” Not sure about you, Sarah, but English was my 2nd language, (tho I still learned it young, around 4/5 when I started preschool), and I learned a lot of English words through reading (as we spoke Bengali at home, mostly, until my sister was born 8 years after me). Anyway, when that happens, there are many words that you end up pronouncing them the phonetic way and it ends up being 𝘞𝘈𝘠𝘠𝘠𝘠𝘠𝘠 off. So, while I personally 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 your pronunciation, tbh, because it sounds way fancier, it is in fact not pronounced the way it’s written. 😅

Great and healthy. Loving your videos. Your mom is a great resource for special recipes!
My mom taught me that you have to discard the water that the beans were soaking in because that's where all of the gas goes!!! 😂
