Ask Josh: Do you find that during your extensive research for these interviews, you develop somewhat of a parasocial relationship with your guest, and if so how has that affected your approach during the actual interviews?
Ask Josh Have you heard about the Swedish consept "Pizzasallad"? It's like a pickled cabbage with I think caraway seeds, all pizza places in Sweden has to have it as a starter/side dish, suprisingly good! Reminded me when you got to sauerkraut on pizza!

Ask Josh – Is preparation for an episode consumed with the more concrete elements: the background research, recipes, presentations, obscure intro fact… or do you spend time specifically thinking how to create an open connection with the guest, to inhabit a comfort zone beyond the food. I know I'd bury myself in the former but worry more about the latter, haha. But the connection seems to come intuitively and it's what actually makes the show.

Given your unique experience of asking guests to be sentimental about food, could you talk about any patterns you've seen with the connection between people's thoughts on food/cooking and people's relationships with their parents?
