Cooking With Jack’s Pulled Pork Should NOT Happen… Pro Chef Reacts

This one shocked me! Cooking With Jack made pulled pork… but something is seriously wrong. As a chef, I will break down exactly what went wrong, what should have happened, and why this is a BIG mistake when cooking pork. Undercooked pork isn’t just bad, it’s a serious problem.

  1. I would not pay to eat that. Just no. I like pulled pork. But I am not going to eat a shredded pile of fat cap and uncooked pork meat. I get the feeling that Jack has never read a cook book and just does what he sees on internet without any context. And when he fails he just corrects himself off screen to make it look like he did nothing wrong. Kind of like some of Jamie Oliver's recipe videos only without all the camera angles, weird amounts of jamie olive oil, mango chutney, chilly jam, and PAP, BLIP, or POP.

  2. Another great video Chef James! You get what you pay for lol. That thermometer is about as disastrous as the undercooked pulled pork coleslaw mayonnaise sandwich 🤣 (especially at a $30 dollar price-point). Invest $35 more dollars and get a ThermoWorks ChefAlarm and it will give you accurate readings for a lifetime.

  3. Hopefully the Hype points give you more reviews 🙏
Also my uncle got lung cancer and he never smoked, however he was in the military, which everybody smoked during Desert Storm.

  4. How do you mess up pulled pork that badly? Was his oven even on during the cooking? Jack is just incapable of preparing edible food.

  5. Who makes a complete video with an untried recipe and tools he has never used before ??
Jack, that's who. Plus, everything seems to come from the Dollar Store.

  6. The inside of the pork so raw a skilled necromancer could turn it into a piglet 😂

  7. “I had friends over and they loved it.” If my friend served me that sandwich, we would not remain friends.

  8. Looking at the video I do not think they product review failed because it was a bad product but rather the meat sack using it was just that dumb and made it fail , watch the video with the dome cooker he is using it has a very hot base and a very hot bit of glass over that and this Jack genius ran the probes wire between the 2 with the very hot glass literally pressing against the wire. also what is it with certain Americans being unable to put down a phone for 5 min , if i am at the computer or watching tv i have never once felt the need to constantly hold my phone like i am a 1 year old with a comforter blanket

  9. I never understood the meat claws. Cook it properly and you can throw on some gloves and use your hands quite quickly. Or… Use forks.

  11. OK well number one to do pulled pork 160 is not the right internal temperature. Very much need to be right around 200°.

  12. That particular sandwich no, but I actually don’t mind coleslaw on my pulled pork sandwich. The coleslaw definitely needs less dressing though if you’re using it to put on a sandwich.

  13. Magic happens to pork butt at 192°F. The collagen breaks down and turns into meat juice. You'll never get a roast that size to cook evenly in an "oven" that small in 6 hours. Turn the temp WAY down and cook it for 12-15 hours.

  14. Totally undercooked indeed. I don't know where he grabbed that shitty thermometer but it looks like Aliexpress crap … got some Inkbird thermometers for that and they never failed.
Also his "smoker" doesn't even look like a smoker.
Pretty sure he re-cooked the meat on a pan to put it in the sandwich.

You could do the same with some cast-iron casserole on low heat with a small amount of beef stock to keep the moisture. Also his piece of meat seems way yoo think for a proper cooking

  15. The battery "died" because he had to microwave the shredded pork to fully cook it. It clearly had that dry look of microwaved meat. As for the sandwich construction putting coleslaw on the sandwich is an actual style that is popular in the southern USA.

  16. I think the idea of the thermometer is to keep it in the meat and plugging your phone in as needed to read the temperature…I don't think they actually expect anyone to LEAVE the phone plugged in for 10 hours 😂

  17. I wish Jack would release his own cookbook with all the great tips and all the good recipes

  18. To those of you who are watching this video and wonder why Jack is a lot less healthier now than he was back then. This is one of the reasons why!

  19. I prefer grilling in the fall, winter and spring rather than summer. To have to stand outside in the heat, to do something that make you more hot? No thanks i'm good.

I could see leaving the fat cap and skin on it, if you render all the fat and at the end you were going to turn the heat up and basically turn that skin into a chicharron. My wife is Dominican and that's basically what they do when they make Pernil. The other thing i've seen them do is cut the fat cap off, season the meat and put it back on top. That way the seasoning doesn't have to try to fight it's way through the fat.

The coleslaw looks horrible, but i'll be honest i like coleslaw on my pulled pork. Gives a nice contrast and texture. But seriously he needs to work on his coleslaw, it's not that hard to make a good one, and you can make a decent dressing with just Mayo, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. And just use the pre-packaged bag of coleslaw from the store.

  20. He must have been able to see that it was raw. He's a dummy, but he isn't blind. Why not just use another piece of the meat after a couple more hours cooking instead of showing the world how utterly incompetent you are? He did with the bun at the end, because there's no way that was the same cut. I can't tell if he's just trolling the whole internet or if he really is that bad at cooking.

  21. I think he wrongly use the thermometer. Or 8:03 "Very high quality wiring", nope. Totally not. As far as I know, electric also generate heats. Some devices or wiring system, we can't just use small wires. We need to use thicker wire to withstand the heat. If not, the wire might just burn. That wire looks like <1.5mm copper wire, but with stainless steel cover (mentioned at the packaging). If the wire is thicker, then it's sturdier.
