Finding the Best Viral Food in the World (ft Ben from Sorted Food)

We invited Ben Ebbrell from @SortedFood to judge the most viral foods on the internet, from TikTok sensations to global food trends that have racked up billions of views.
From Buldak Carbonara noodles and smash burgers to chopped sandwiches, vodka pasta, Yorkshire pudding wraps, and the infamous Dubai chocolate… each dish must face the ultimate decision:
Stick… or Twist.

Along the way, we break down what actually makes a dish go viral — from texture and flavour to presentation, nostalgia, and internet appeal. Why do some foods explode online while others fade away? And do viral recipes actually taste as good as they look?
This isn’t just a taste test, it’s a deep dive into viral food culture, TikTok food trends, and the psychology behind the internet’s most popular dishes.
And at the end… we crown the most viral dish in the world.

  1. Nah, Americans see that Yorkshire burrito and want to devour it. Also, mac and cheese clears these other dishes. Sorry boys.

  2. Isn't there some controversy about the Dubai chocolate origins? I read the actual person who came up with it was hired by the woman and ended up suing her, or something to that effect.

  3. The chopped sandwich is remarkably like what I grew up hearing described as a "grandad sandwich".
The grandad in question spent time in Italy during WW2 and rather than deli meats, it was usually lamb, cheese and salad.

  4. I think I am the only person in the world unimpressed with Dubai chocolate. I like pistachio and I like chocolate, but it's oddly way too sweet for me.

  5. 13:30 calling Knafe a traditional Emirati dish is so wild to me 😭😭
Knafeh is a Levantine (!!) dessert with different variations across that specific region. The Dubai chocolate branding is so misleading, but pls don’t fall prey to it 🥲
Food is culture and proper acknowledgement of its history matters immensely 🤍

  6. Good fun & nice to see Fallow & Sorted cross spatulas.
Could maybe do a flipside version; most over rated foods/dishes?
For me it would be burgers. Fed up with how much time they get on the net, & personally don't think they're that great.

  7. To all my europeans, heat the tortilla first please it will make your experience better. Toss it in a pan on medium medium/low head till its heated through.

  8. Why if this isn't a video with my favorite UK chefs for knowledge and entertainment combined, I absolutely love to see it!

  9. For those who don't know about Colby-Jack, it's a blend (often marbled) of Colby and Monterey Jack. Colby is a mellow, "sweet" cheese originating in Colby, Wisconsin (where my grandparents were from!). Monterey Jack is from California and has similar characteristics. How or why they ended up together, I don't know, but… Colby-Jack is excellent for grilled-cheese sandwiches.

  10. Myself… I need that Yorkshire wrap. Had enough of sweets recently. That's thing is awe inspiring.

  11. It is culturally quite rude to stab chopsticks into an Asian food bowl btw. Always placed across the lip of the bowl or by the side on the table.

  12. Dubai money goes to dubai memes to distract from the fact that its a evil facist slave state.

  13. 0:45 Why is Jack calling spring onions, scallions?
I'm sure you have a sizeable audience over there but do we need to pander to the yanks and drop our beautiful British food names.
Let them Google it you traitor.
    😆

  14. Nah. Where in your town can you buy a cronut®? Okay, so where in your town can you buy Dubai-style chocolate? EVERY supermarket. Love it or hate it, they win.
