  1. We have to have all of these people who have parents that are in diaspora look up what US imperialism and embargoes and disallowing trade to Nations that called themselves communists did to those Nations
It wasn't the fact that your mom grew up in communism. It was that your mom probably grew up in the global South in a country that the United States wanted the resources of and punished them massively for trying to take ownership of their own resources
    Source: banana Republic

  2. One day I made a soup with just leeks, radishes, and potatoes because it’s all I had and it was honestly one of the best soups I’ve ever had 😂

  3. Some of these comments are absolutely miserable. I s2g people just get online mad and take it out on the first person whose video they come across

  4. I think it’s pronounced “ghoul-yash” but don’t quite me on that it’s just something my grandma used to say

  5. You can't grow up during communism, you can grow up in a place that has communism. but communism is still around and never ended at a time

  6. In my brain if- IFFFF – i was going to do this and got caught like this, I would pretend I owned an Ipad, thought it was mine, was packing up really quick to get on the plane, and had no idea until I was on the plane.

  7. That's not nothing girl !
That's everything there, like what is missing for it to be an actual soup in your opinion 😂

  8. Guys she didnt say she was destitute she said her GRANDMOTHER was alive during communism and could make a meal out of a little. I would think itd be common sense that this creator probably has a little more at her disposal than her grandmother did.

  9. I live in Washington State…I get communism times all too well. French onion soup is a staple in our home.

  10. My great grandma grew up in WWII Germany and was the exact same way. She’d even pack up leftover hot dogs from a bbq and just tell us “Soup will be good tomorrow”. I miss her everyday.

  11. Making soup out of nothing would have meant you would have used the “rotten” chives regardless. As for the potatoes…your mum must have worked really hard to get you to be able to consider buying individual potatoes

  12. When you cut veggies, tuck your fingers in. No need to give yourself a manicure while making soup.

  13. all you people stuck on the wrapped potatoes are a trip. They're literally in every grocery store (only know about US idk other countries) and marketed for microwaves so you can make a baked potato.

  14. My grandparents grew up in the depression and my grandmother could make sould out of nothing. Bad side was she NEVER threw anything out even stuff past die. Lol so you had to be careful

  15. Sometimes the packed potatoes have a plastic cover. Cause it’s the kind you can pop in a microwave to cook. Like baked potato. I know the horror plastic.
And y’all missing the point. She is using left over stuff she had. Saying she is taking knowledge from when her mother lived in a communist country and had to make struggle meals.

  16. The Internet is crazy, you can show a wonderful recipe and then all people focus on are the fact that "ugh, the potatoes are wrapped" really sad, amazing recipe though. Sorry that people are completely missing the point
