  1. I will say the people in Amsterdam were much nicer than some other areas… Maastricht had nice people… Eindhoven… not so nice…

  2. "Our culture is not interesting, you should go to Spain" is shockingly close to a real conversation I overheard in Amsterdam 8 years ago 😂

  3. There used to be a Dutch restaurant in my neighborhood in Massachusetts: “Amsterdam Felafel”! It went out of business after a couple years tho 😢

  4. As a Dutchie who loves to eat amazing things from all over the world, it kind of saddens me a bit that we always underrate and even seemingly despise our own food culture.

A properly prepared 'stamppot boerenkool' with sausage and some pickled onions to garnish will always remain one of the foods you can wake me up for in the middle of the night.

  5. Waiters can be more polite than that but we ALL as a nation will shut DOWN any interest you’ll have in our “culinary culture”. No, that’s why we were colonizing, let us refer you to the Indonesian and Surinam restaurants down the road

  6. I also went to Amsterdam and the whole time we ate in Chinese restaurants for dinner and from the supermarkt for breakfast lol 😅😅 also I ordered one coffee for the whole time I was there and it was like shit.

  7. Visit Moeders in Amsterdam. It is delightful dutch food. And the place is filled with pictures of moms. The Beef stew is great!

  8. The Dutch do great pastries and deep fried junk food, but that's about it. Although we do like to claim the great indonesian cuisine as our own.
