Omena is a small fish found mainly in Lake Victoria.

Its scientific name is Rastrineobola argentea.

In English, people often compare it to sardines, but it’s actually a different species—just similar in size and how it’s eaten.

Omena are naturally small fish, not baby fish.
Omena is very popular around:
Kenya
Uganda (called mukene)
Tanzania (called dagaa)
Similar small fish (like sardines) are eaten worldwide:

Nutrition (very powerful!)
Omena may be small, but they’re super nutritious:
High in protein (good for muscles)

🍳 How is it cooked?
Common ways in Kenya:

Fried omena

Wash, fry in oil until crispy

Stewed omena

Fry onions + tomatoes, add omena, cook into a sauce

Sun-dried (traditional)

Most omena is dried first, then cooked later
Some people also deep-fry until crunchy and eat like snacks.

  2. Salut ! Voici quelques astuces pour fabriquer son propre engrais bio. Utilise des pelures de banane, de la poudre de coquille d'œuf et du curcuma. Laisse tremper le tout dans de l'eau propre pendant cinq jours, puis suis les instructions ci-dessous.

  3. Broyez au soleil un kilogramme de pelures de bananes complètement séchées. Et un demi-kilo de coquilles d'œufs. Lavez-les et séchez-les au soleil, puis réduisez-les en poudre. Suivez les conseils ci-dessous.

  4. Mélangez la poudre de pelures de banane, trois cents kilogrammes de safran et les jaunes d'œufs ; laissez infuser pendant quatre jours dans dix litres d'eau propre. Suivez les instructions ci-dessous. ❤❤

  5. Mana, en suivant les instructions, prélevez l'engrais liquide organique et appliquez-le au pied de vos plants de chou frisé, de laitue, d'oignon et de tomate. Répétez l'opération pour les plants de courge et de concombre tous les sept jours.

  6. Dernier conseil : Appliquez 40 ml d’engrais organique tous les sept jours à vos légumes, comme les légumes-feuilles, le chou frisé, la laitue et les tomates. Suivez les conseils ci-dessous.
