BUSTING INDIAN FOOD MYTHS with KRISH ASHOK WHILE COOKING BISIBELEBATH | Chef Sanjyot Keer

In today’s Cook-Along, we’re not just cooking… we’re questioning everything we’ve been told about food. We are joined by Krish Ashok, author of Masala Lab, and someone you’ve probably seen on social media busting food myths we’ve all grown up believing.

While cooking a comforting Bisi Bele Bath together, what starts as a simple recipe turns into a deeper conversation around fear-mongering, diet fads, and the many food myths we often follow without questioning.

Are eggs vegetarian?
Is jaggery actually healthier than sugar?
Do soaked nuts really make a difference?
Why does food taste better the next day?

We break down everyday kitchen beliefs and look at them through a more practical, easy to understand science-backed lens.

This is a slightly different episode but the conversations go deeper into Indian food habits, beliefs, and how social media is shaping the way we think about what we eat.

Today, we’re constantly exposed to new food advice online. Some of it useful, some of it misleading. This episode is about not following things blindly, and learning how to think for yourself in the kitchen.

If you’ve ever paused mid-cooking or mid-eating and wondered why you’re doing something a certain way, this one’s for you.

Watch till the end.

  1. Fantastic episode chef! Very informative and intellectual conversation 🙂.. absolutely amazing to hear both of you.. and delightful to see both of you in one frame! 👍😊… Wonderful collaboration! 😊.. and of course delicious, soulful recipe😊.. thanks chef for such wonderful episode and recipe..

  2. Chef please invite Dr. Khadir Valli an independent food scientist of India also known as " Millet man of India ". He got padmashree award for his research on millets.

Please make Millet dishes according to his protocol.

Do study his research of millets. Please invite him.

  3. Everything was worth listening to except for the veganism part. Very shallow level of understanding on that topic.

  4. Honest feedback is i wanted to learn Besi bele bhaat but such a long video put me off and moved away. I am 40 mins in the video and cooking hasn't started

  5. Krish Ashok seems benign but he is the kind of tumour that only gets detected in metastasis.

  6. Hate this man… Speaks shit..
Why you had to Collab with him… Doesn't suit you 😔

  7. 1:28:56 This kind of knowledge can only come from Krish.
All of this was new to me. 15% people not able to consume coriander and it's because of some aldehyde compound and those aldehyde are gone once you crush it.

  8. My parents show crazy discomfort when I tell them something thats against their beliefs or recently watched b.s facebook video.
They listen and try to align with Chef Sanjyot though, Im a huge fan of Ashok Krish.
This is a golden opportunity for me to get them to fix their algorithm.

Please push MASSIVE amount of reels/ short videos from this long video ,
I want you guys to season and temper their god awful feed filled with distasteful content.
Please help me fix their feed.

  9. How do I know if it's safe to store and for how long? I come back home at 7:30 and am too tired to make anything. Making dal or rice is okay; I just put everything in the pressure cooker, take a shower. Making rotis or some form of wheat-based dish is very difficult and time-consuming. Also, I just started learning to cook after moving out.

will love a video that helps me plan meals for a week.

  10. a little feedback , the intro was literally 2 minn long and that kind of irritated me cause i was like okay now bring it on i dont need to know all the questions or myths

  11. Thanks for getting him on the show. Krish has some really some nice and straightforward science based advise and he is an awesome influencer that needs to be known more

  12. 1:02:25 hmm not sure I agree there, I mean I weigh 90kgs and damn near impossible to get even 70g of protein from whole foods keeping my 2000 to 2200 kcal maintenance. For muscle building it’s like 1.2g per kg so I’ll need like 120g of protein. I take three scoops of whey and that’s actually the majority of my protein. Vegetarian is hard but not complaining about how I get the protein, just the part about the majority should come from other foods.
