Where Do Tokyo Taxi Drivers Eat for Lunch? | Japan byFood
Japan byFood is challenging Shizuka to ask taxi drivers in Tokyo for food recommendations! The result? SO many hidden food spots in Shibuya and Shinjuku beyond the tourist trap and definitely affordable – we even found a legendary ramen spot for only $7. Buckle up and get yourself ready to eat like a real Tokyoite!

That first ramen store looks interesting since most ramen broths are pork-based instead of seafood-based, shall try that shop in my next tokyo trip!
This is a great video and yes, more like this! I'd like to think that there are gems out there. Affordable, great food is probably around the corner. Thank you!
It’s Japan, EVERY restaurant is going to be good. Just walk into any random open shop.😅
I'd definetly go for the Udon/Izakaya place, but try it both during day and night. Have you considered doing tour of 1 star restaurants? Recently saw a video about those, and it turns out a lot of bad reviews were not warranted at all.
I love how hyperlocal asking taxi drivers is
Loved the video, we always ask our Cab Driver's what's good and where to eat whenever we travel. Shizuka, my Wife informs me that we were born in the same city, just 24 years and 6 days apart. (I'm Oct 24, 1967). Cheers!!
You should try making this a series in different areas. This was fun to watch!
Thanks
taxi drivers hsouldn't by shy abput giving recommendations to eat..we want to eat where they eat too…yummy affordable food
Taxi drivers all over the world know the best local cheap, fast and good eats, its a given.
I appreciate this video because I'm really interested in things like street food or unassuming / local type places, as opposed to trendy or high end places. For whatever reason I've struggled to find good videos for places like that in Japan, so I hope to see more like that!
Definitely the last spot and would like to try it in the day and again at night.
thanks a lot. first time i see seafood ramen shop.
It's funny that some of the taxis are trying to resemble British Hackney Carriages
More jiichan reccs plsss for sure🎉
Man that kamatama one reminds me of italian carbonara where you cook the eggs in residual heat on the noodles/pasta
you look so pretty.
nice
A bit of context for the anime posters in the last restaurant: that's Yuki Yuna is a Hero, an anime set in Kan'onji city in Kagawa Prefecture! Maybe the owner is from Kagawa? Some shows have tourism collaborations with regional government, so I'm guessing those posters were from a tourism promo to promote Kan'onji.
Great idea….taxi drivers should know of great places ti dine.
Where's the cute redhead host?
Are you sure you are Japanese, completely eating the ramen like a foreigner… Shocked that you didn't use a fork….
glass bottle coke is the best.. its practically non existent now in my country..
Alone with a ramen, and a coke. Sounds like paradise.
I have been wondering about this also
…you do food tours?
Love the channel and this video. Coming to Tokyo in October. Follow your channel everyday. Thank you so much for what you do.
This is useful for people in Japan 🇯🇵 As a Japanese woman, I’m also sharing helpful tips little by little ✨

Fun video and great to see some more new places to try. Thanks!
