Student chefs cooked us a full 3-course meal at Level 6, the training
restaurant at Blackpool and Fylde College in Bispham, and we weren’t
sure what to expect. Every penny spent here goes back into training
the next generation of chefs, so is it genuinely good value, or does
it still feel like a work in progress?

  2. Great review and a nice change 😊 there students do a lot of things like this, we've got a full on hair dressing salon in our town and all are students. A lot of people aren't even aware it's there and what's available. Nothing better than doing something but giving our future generation experience in what they love ❀️ great video lads and very eye opening 😊

  4. A great little video as always. I went a few years back with folk from work and I couldn't believe how good it was, friendly staff, great presentation and good value. From your review, I'd say nothing has changed and it may have improved if anything. To be honest though, I don't know anybody who goes there so maybe eating at college is just not cool ? Martin said at the end that everybody would like it there and I couldn't agree more. Thanks lads.

    What’s the postcode for the college please, definitely on my list but wondering do you always need to book or can you just turn up on the day, one more question when are they open – days & opening/closing times would be appreciated if you have that information. Meant to say Banoffee desserts are my ultimate favourite so I would of devoured that and thought I was in Heaven πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.. Defo 10+x

    There is an excellent catering College in Kendal – one of the best rated in the country – so if you ever get up to the Lakes you might want to give it a try.
    I guessed Β£30 each and that would have been a bargain – has to be a 10+ from me
    PS – first time I've noticed Pat is a left handed gun⁉⁉

  9. Well, I wasn't expecting that, at all……… That was without a doubt, First class dining….. at a college of all places…
    WOW, times have changed, a college that teaches and trains students to cook to chef level, but also has a genuine restaurant for there full work experience.
    Such a very good exciting choice on the menu, The meals that you both ordered looked really so Top Class….. Neither of you could fault any of it ..
    The food was so well presented, top quality and looked to be so full of rich tasty flavour.. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹
    The beef would have been my choice from the menu, The fish looked really good as well ( the batter, was that really beer batter…. Boddingtons Draught )
    Martin & Patrick both turned out smart in jackets, in a very posh place…
    Was waiting for Martin to let the side down by spilling tartar sauce down his front while finger eating the fish, but no, he got away with it πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
    Well done to all the student chefs, including the table service students, if any of you are watching this stream upon knowing that the Gourmet Lads have dined in your resaurant,

  13. i do think there is a difference between students and some chefs. the students are trying to do there best some chef's dont.
    to start with the place looks nice. Martin you seen that Pat does know how to write his name, hehehe
    if it looks nice then your half way there.
    do you think the sausage roll is better than Clarkson farm one. it looks nicer.
    i do think you need to fine a place that does it as good as what that looks, the staff were good. the water girl filled your glass.
    pat you forget to lick the plate after the beef. hehe
    I bet you money the fries, on the fish and chips did not come out of a freezer bag.
    would you say the fish is 6 or 8 oz size. on video hard to tell.
    i would pay that its worth it. you have paid Β£18 for just fish and chips in some places.
    so what was the price if you wanted a 2nd pudding

  15. In a world of negativity it was such a pleasure to watch a vlog that litteraly oozed positivity , well done to everyone involved.

During my own student days, a few of us were asked if we would like to go along to a local catering college, that had its own restaurant on its grounds, so they could serve us lunch and receive some feedback. Being typical hard up students, we were thrilled at the opportunity for a free feed with no hesitation to go along. Just like you guys, our expectations weren't high, expecting to be served a canteen style lunch. Imagine our faces when we were presented with a rather sophisticated menu and food that was truly outstanding. Suffice to say we gave them an excitable but glowing review, sending some of the student lads bright red with our girly enthusiasm 😊

    I am sure the excellent review you lads gave will be encouraging and much appreciated. Honestly, I also feel that it showcased your abilities to analyse and articulate flavours, textures and technique really well. Really enjoyed this guys, you did brilliantly. ❀

  17. nice1, looked good, good job really, bcos youd have to be cold to turn round to a load of young people and say it was crap, nice1 yeah looked spot on and very fresh

  18. Absolutely loved this video lads, your best one to date in my opinion. The food was top class and the service was impeccable. Loved the behind the scenes footage and speaking with the students/staff there. The kitchen was spotless, the restaurant itself was very tastefully decorated with great views. The price was amazing, considering the quality of the food it should have cost far more. A well deserved 10 plus for sure.

    Just a couple of things. Personally, I'd rather not see any spoilers at the start. I always like to be surprised as I watch the review. They need to clearly mark where the restaurant is when you reach the floor, for people who have never been before. The custard was most likely crème anglaise, which is lighter and thinner than custard.

    I wish them every success in the future and really hope they achieve a Michelin star, they deserve it. Thanks for a wonderful review lads.

  20. It's such a shame that people have the attention span of a goldfish these days. I blame the kids wanting everything done in under a minute. This video of yours should be your best performing one as it's such an incredible and inspirational story, besides being an amazing food review. It's just so tough to get viral videos out there. In my experience it's always the videos you least expect to do well, that do really well. The algorithm is an unknown beast most times. Keep hanging in there lads, yer day will come 🀞
