White House Correspondents’ Dinner rocked by gunfire, Trump evacuated
President Trump attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner for the first time as president. But the dinner was postponed after gunshots rang outside the ballroom and the president and his Cabinet were evacuated. Ed O’Keefe reports.

Essentially the Supreme Court’s 2022 NYSRPA v. BRUEN decision shows that all six Republican justices prioritize a 1791 interpretation of the Second Amendment (which describes a well regulated Militia) over modern public safety. The Court effectively elevates the individual right to carry firearms above the government's power to protect the collective safety of American citizens. This of course is demented.
— Essentially the justices ruled that the public safety, and gun deaths statistics (40,000 annual American gun deaths over the last 10 years) are legally irrelevant regarding the constitutional history of the second Amendment.
— Essentially the justices ruled that the death of thousands of Americans is an acceptable price to pay with respect to the traditions of the Second Amendment.
— By prioritizing broad easy access to firearms as a constitutional right, Republican policy effectively shifts the focus away from legislative public safety measures for all Americans.
— The Bruen decision helps to guarantee the core base of gun owners will vote Republican, allowing Republicans who oppose gun regulations to hold on to power, so the cycle of gun violence will continue.
— If you want to try to break the cycle of American gun violence , consider voting for a corrupt Democrat over a very corrupt Republican.
