Fast Food Industry Sees Surge in Sales Amid High Gas Prices

McDonald’s this week reported sales grew nearly 4 percent in the U.S. from a year earlier which is a better-than-expected success. Reporting for TODAY, NBC’s Emilie Ikeda breaks down how these restaurants are beefing up their offerings.

Just bring back the dollar menu fully.
Can we please deport The Today Show for the betterment of America
Why would anyone pay for that garbage especially in this economy?
So since they have a surge in business, that means they’re gonna have a surge in the wages they pay people, to help offset the employees paying for high gas, right?
McDonald's food used to be pretty good but now it's garbage.
Never again McDonalds. Smaller portions and higher prices.
Unhealthy. And pricing healthy food high is classism.
Pft ya right. McDonalds clearly paid for a plug.
You know how bad Trump's Iran war is affecting gas prices, when they replace the car-drive through with a bicycle and people walk-up window.
This makes no sense
Everyone getting richer but us.. who has the money for $70.00 fast food?
not good. animal cruelty still being ignored. shame.
Mac Donald's is terrible
McDonald’s tried charging me 20 dollars for a coffee, hashbrown and a sandwich. I will never eat there again. I will wait for whoever takes their place as an affordable chain.
McDonald's is way overpriced. Besides Burger King burgers are much better and cheaper.
ALL GARBAGE LIES🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would rather live off oatmeal than eat that crap
No thank you, I’d rather eat a minimal amount of fruits and vegetables than eat that poison…
Did McDonald's pay for this ad? 😂😂
B.s. I went to MC Donald's in my city and I terribly 🤒 ill . Plus received treated ruidly by the cashier named Stacy. I will never go to this McDonald's ever again. Very unprofessional and un-sanity
Will these drop down when gas price goes back down to pre iran conflict? No course not . Who actually paying $3 for a chicken in 2026
UNDER $3 AND $4 IS NOTHING THATS LITERALLY THE SAME PRICE AS ALWAYS?!!??
It may seem like a deal but it's just smaller portions for a lowered cost.
So they only bring back the value meals when they are in trouble. Otherwise they could care less. No thanks.
I bet the CEO of Mcdonalds does not have that garbage in his neighborhood. 😅
Sales surged. How's net profits? Probably the same or lower due to higher overhead cost.
