Saigon Beyond the Tourist Trail: Café Rituals, Bún Chả & More! Living Like A Local In Vietnam 🇻🇳🥢✨
Living local in Saigon means understanding that the city’s heart beats in its cafés. In this episode, we take an in-depth look at Vietnam’s legendary café culture — a ritual that goes far beyond a caffeine fix. It’s about the community, the slow pace of the phin filter, and the way these spaces serve as the living rooms of the city. ☕🏙️
While we spend much of our time in the neighborhoods of District 7, we do step onto the tourist trail to admire the historic Central Post Office (Bưu điện Thành phố) and the evening energy of Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street. But the real soul of the day is found in a bowl of Bún chả, where the balance of grilled meats and fresh herbs defines the “truth in food” we’re always chasing. 🥢🥓
In the interest of keeping things real, I’m also sharing an Indian meal that didn’t meet the mark. We reset the palate in the Korean enclave of Phu My Hung for an intense charcoal BBQ experience followed by the delicate chill of Tuyết Hoa (Snow Flower) bingsu. 🥩❄️
This is Saigon in its most authentic form — from grand landmarks to the quiet corners of a neighborhood café.
Hope you caught part one of this series too.

Banana leaf was visually unimpressive. Your opinion was palpable. On the sidelines…how's the treatment of Indian tourists? Some negative feedback is trickling of late. Reply if you feel
Barbecue setup looks good and Bingso looks too tempting 👍🏻
When every Indian's (Including Me) go abroad for a family vacation we always tend to go to Indian restaurants. Out of 365 Days in a year why can't we have local food for 5 days when out on a holiday outside India
Ending super duper 😋 desert ❤
First time ever I saw you expressing concerns about food. 😮 8:16
Amazing vlog sir and madam. Love from Canada
Good vlog. Food looks delicious, I do like the Vietnamese food but not those weird things like rat and snake meats (city market!) and that Cobra, Scorpion marinated Alcohol! 😱 Coffee is unmatched!! We started buying only Vietnamese coffee beans now in USA! 😁😁
Post office was gorgeous and the unfinished church next to it too. We bought black peppercorn packs from Cambodia and coffee from Vietnam.
❤❤❤
Yup bun cha is the perfect meal trumps anything from
Any other Asian cuisine
Only thing you did not add was some chilli
Another lovely installment. Vietnamese food seems to be very balanced in terms of flavours and nutrition. All those greens will balance out the meats and fats. One rarely sees an obese Vietnamese person. Thank you for another excellent episode.
Kripal Bro, you both brothers scored gorgeous women. The Ammana boys are gogethers 😅
Loved the vlog series would copy ur trail the next time I visit VT.
PS- thanks for the heads-up on VietJet. Cheers
Hi Kripal, losing interest in your visits to asian countries. We NRIs miss the local eatouts back home, i.e., Bangalore. Mango Mela in Halli Mane and others. Please come back to our hometown, getting closer to our namma Bengaluru eatouts.
Thanks for describing each Vietnamese dish. Helps us understand each dish so we can try them out ourselves! I'm very eager to try Bò Né and Bun Cha.
