The CRAZIEST Diner Menu Guy Fieri Has EVER Seen 🍜🔥 | Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives | Food Network

Guy Fieri rolls into Cali to check out Santa Cruz Diner, opened in 1998 by a husband and wife team with zero restaurant experience but plenty of heart. She’s Vietnamese and brings family recipes to the table, adding pho, fresh spring rolls and vibrant rice bowls to a classic New Jersey-style diner lineup. The result is such an eclectic mix that Guy calls it “the craziest menu he has ever seen,” where classic breakfast plates sit right alongside noodle soups in one unforgettable neighbor staple.

  1. My older daughter attended UC Santa Cruz 2001-2006. We had a couple of favorite spots but Santa Cruz Diner was always our reliable standby. Loved the Pho but everything was good! So glad its still going strong. We're in SoCal now and haven't been to Santa Cruz in a minute.

  2. The Santa Cruz Diner was one of the worst places I have ever been to. There were ants crawling all over our table. We ordered fish and chips and they served us boxed pre–frozen fish filets. You can tell when fish is manufactured because all of the pieces are the exact same shape. When you walk out the front door of this restaurant and you look to the right you can see the ocean. They should be serving fresh fish

  3. Stupid question: Is "pho" pronounced differently in Vietnam than it is in Thailand? I've always heard it pronounced more like "fuh" before rather than "fah" as she says

  4. I know, I know, but whenever I see Guy now I have a picture of him shaking hands with the Tate brothers. It rankles as they are absolute scumbags. I would have hoped for more class.

  5. You put the fish sauce in towards the end. Cooking the broth with the fish sauce for longer than 30-45 minutes gives the soup a sour note. A similar thing happens with spices–they give off a bitter note after being over-extracted.

  6. I'll always remember the trip I made in 2010 to visit my friends at UCSC….I ate at this diner 5 different times in 24 hours

  7. Thanks for becoming a restauranteur, and not a Lawyer… I've had a couple bad experiences with Lawyers, and they earn the title; Shark.

  8. I really don't like him going to eating spots in sandals. It's unsanitary in my eyes especially if he goes into the kitchen. Can't go behind that. That's why I never watch these episodes. Not worth it.

  9. That's the worst Pho I've ever seen made by a Vietnamese person just noodles and plain sliced meat….

  10. lol, it's so crazy how he doesn't like eggs. I love eggs. I love them solt boiled lately, I've been eating a lot of them.
