Michelin Star Dining for £30? House of Tides After Hours Review

We headed down to on Newcastle’s Quayside to try their brand new “After Hours” experience 👀🥩🍸

Known for being one of Newcastle’s Michelin-starred restaurants led by Kenny Atkinson, House of Tides has launched a more relaxed late-night concept downstairs inside the stunning 16th century building.

Think:
🥩 Steak Frites
🍸 Cocktails
🍷 Great wine
🕯️ Candlelit atmosphere
🔥 Michelin-quality food in a much more casual setting

The After Hours menu keeps things simple and stripped back, focusing on high-quality produce and a cosy late-night vibe — so we went along to see what it’s actually like and whether it lives up to the hype.

Is this the best affordable way to experience Michelin-star dining in Newcastle? 👀

  1. Think there’s a serious element to them doing this also – as alternate means to generate some revenue. Just because it’s a Michelin starred restaurant that’s quite expensive doesn’t mean they’re swimming in cash, they’re probably struggling like most in the industry. We’re lucky to have places like this in the city and we shouldn’t get complacent.

I get a full taster menu isn’t for everyone, but this is accessible and fantastic value for money, so I hope everyone goes down and shows their support

  2. Couldn’t agree more, Mick. Very accessible and brilliant value for the food and service. The first three Sundays in May sold out so I hope it continues that was into June 😊
