Catching and Cooking Venison On My Farm

Today I’ve got my sister Melissa and Christian out on the farm for a proper hunting and cook up episode.

Christian does a lot with wild deer, and what I love about the way they do it is nothing goes to waste. We’re talking fresh venison, backstrap over the fire, burgers, salami, deer fat, bone marrow, tallow, skincare and even the leftovers going back into the compost for the farm.

Melissa is a massive animal lover, so this one is also about doing things the right way. Taking a clean, ethical shot, respecting the animal and making sure every part of it gets used properly.

We cook up fresh venison over the fire, try Christian and Melissa’s marinades, talk through the process of using wild deer tallow for skincare, and show how much can actually come from one animal when you do it properly.

  1. Definitely may seem like a far-fetched idea but you need to get in a elk expedition with Rich Froning crossfit athlete legend 💪 Rich is all about that life has his own ranch and everything… Definitely can see a great cook out between these 2…. As always much love and respect brother…

  2. Mate, it’s not fair to bully a deer who doesn’t have a chance to fight back. How about be a real man and fight in a cage if you dare?

  3. this is the epitome of enjoying the fruit of your labour. letting going into a cage and risking your health and life to enjoy this life.

  4. One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten was venison and vegetables slow cooked in the camp oven 💯wallabies are great too ❤

  5. Thats the dream life. Fair play!

Maybe one for future, try catapult/slingshot hunting squirrel or pheasant. Catch and cook.

Bit of training. Focus. Earn it. Enjoy it. Like eveything else you do.

  6. What a beautiful way to live 😍
