7 Canada Restaurants That Got Too Greedy and Paid the Price

There is a point where a restaurant stops serving customers and starts squeezing them. These 7 Canadian chains found that line and crossed it anyway.

From aggressive price hikes that had nothing to do with actual costs, to portion cuts that went too far too fast, loyalty program reversals, and quality drops that loyal customers noticed immediately, we looked at the Canadian restaurant chains that got too greedy and ended up paying for it in closures, boycotts, and reputations they are still trying to recover. The warning signs were there. Most of them ignored every single one.

One chain on this list lost something they spent decades building and did it in less than a year.

  1. Timmies was once a treat. Over the years they have lost their way. Only if I am desperate while on the road will I go there. Eat local, instead.

  2. Man I've made so many cuts since December to try and get ahead. I dont eat out or pay for any streaming/delivery services now. And anytime I DO have to eat out for like Valentines day or something.. I notice this exact thing. Portions so small and the foods never good. I can make my own mediocre food at home

  3. Loyalty is just an ordinary word for businesses. As long as a buck is made from customers nobody cares. Greed is the new for Loyalty. Firstly canadians are highly gullible and will fall for any crap. So all these businesses are not to blame.

  4. No. Thousands of fast food places are hiring only TFW aka Indians and if the normal customers are like me, I won’t support the practice. I wouldn’t mind if they hired Canadian but they have chosen not to and there is an unemployment crisis here.

  5. Please tell me what a vegetarian Indian from India that doesn’t eat meat knows about making my hamburger at a fast food place.

  6. Whoever did this was either an American, who never visited Canada or it was AI generated because the pronunciation of Dalhousie University was not proper

  7. Tim Hortons Indiana 75yr old fatiguer punched a young woman, scratched her face and pulled a large chunk of hair. Sad. Young woman got upset and fought back. What 75yr old grandma would punch a small woman. Grandma died later from distressful situation.

  8. Well when your grocery store bill is three times the amount it was 5 years ago for the same amount of food.. why would you want to go eat out with food that is poor quality and you're lucky if you get decent service and it costs an absolute Fortune.. why waste your money in a restaurant

  9. I had a tiny appetizer, some honey, garlic wings, and a ginger ale and it cost me $60 wtf TF. Hanging out with friends is not what it used to be. That was an entire days pay for me.
If these restaurants want to stay in business, they have to cater to everybody and their prices don’t reflect that.
I used to pop out for a quick burger and fries on my way to work at McDonald’s. No more. It was two hours paid down the toilet and it tasted like crap. I can make my own burger in an air fryer with some tater tots. Works out to three bucks. I’m teaching my daughter to Cook. All these places pricing themselves out of the market. No longer catering to the dynamic they were designed to feed.
But if you think about it, K-Mac, an instant noodles are now into the price gouge as well. For what they are and what they charge ridiculous. No longer a family quick cheap dinner.
Coca-Cola Pepsi, and all the soda and potato chip companies are pricing themselves out of business as well. For what they sell and who they cater to, they’ve lost their market.
People are no longer falling for shrink inflation either. Companies who cater to shrink inflation customers are no longer buying their products. Corporate greed has destroyed the foundation of all these companies. Executives are getting their money. Everyone else is being ripped off. Soon the company will just go under corporate greed is not sustainable.

  10. i went to A @ W for and teen burger 10 bucks the next time it was 16 and change that was the last time never again

  11. I just wonder why Canadians still call it Tim Hortons wherein the coffee and donuts were already changed. Tims just became GREEDY!

  12. With tims, its all the foreign workers, government, greed, wrong orders. Donkin doughnuts is coming if they only hire real Canadians im in . And so are (many) tims is toast……
